Sadly my spare time dedicated to gaming stuff is really small, even with content clear and raiding 2 days per week my Work and Wife dont allow me to dedicate to more things. But still i allready downloaded GIMP and checked it, WoW model Viewer is very easy to use, cant say the same for Gimp , i will need to read some tutorials. I will post my signature developments in here but it will take some time to finish it. |

Re: Signatures Similar to Circuit ones
I used to make hand drawn sigs for other games i played :P
my absolute favorite graphics editor is adobe flash mx pro, i tried cs and didnt like it at all. If your more into cartoony things, you can't go wrong with flash :P ![]() This is a sig i made for 3 of my clan mates back when i played runescape lol all hand drawn in flash :P A little time and effort and you can do anything :D just keep going till you cant go any more :P |

Good to see Circuit is back
![]() After visiting his thread. I can remember making my first and my third. Shortly after the third I began making them for the officers of my former guild. For the people that need inspiration or a push. At the bottem is a link to somebody who makes WoW pictures (and charges a fee). IMHO He could hold on a bit to the glow. If you already have a DTP background you may want to copy some of his technics. ![]() If not it. Just take a look. It does not hurt the eye. http://www.wyndforge.com/WOW/wow_creation.html |

Another alternative is Paint.NET http://www.getpaint.net/
Probably not as feature complete as Gimp but still good... |

Re: Signatures Similar to Circuit ones
After looking at that stuff I will have to make some time to get back into it (although not for public signatures).
There is an awesome sense of accomplishment when you create your vision and it comes out the way you have envisioned it. It may look hard but it isn't. It just takes time and patience. Some hints: Burn and Dodge tool for shading and highlights to bring out that 3d look. Use brushes for quick special effects. (There are many available to download all over the web) Save often. If you end up going in a different direction then save that under a new name and continue on. Experiment and play with the filters so you understand what they do and how they can work together. |

Is it a virus.... or an addicition? I dunno, but we're always fighting against the clock. Collours, a relationship of love and hate. There is so much we must do. What's it for? People think we live on an Island but So much we wanna create. Searching for that moment "OMG let me save this awesome piece. Let me hit the enter. Ghaphical junkie need to score" A very small mini Tutorial for the ones that like to be bitten by a vampire. You can't say we did not warn you. Photoshop Modelviewer (Background is put in first or as last) Make your model in modelviewer. Highest resolution. Print screen copy the screen. Open a new High resolution frame in photoshop Paste the modelviewer-copy in the new frame. Extract the model in the new window and inverse the selection. (magic wand. Magic lasso. manual etc) Copy the selection Paste the extracted copy in you signature frame. (repeat untill you got everthing you need in yoursignature frame) Add text. Flatten layers. (create borders if desired) Save image. (bring down resolution if needed) Final Save the image Repeat te process for your friends and become a better artist |

Re: Signatures Similar to Circuit ones
I came across circuits sig thread quite awhile back when looking for ideas for sigs and ways to get better. I seem to have hit a wall with the finishing touches and came searching for more sig info and cam across this post. I was wondering if a few of the people in this thread could give me some tips. I've been using photoshop cs2, but I have used gimp in the past as well. Here is a link to the ones I have made, hopefully you can tell which were my early ones ;)
http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j25/rmrenwick/sigs/ edit: I guess I should've said what I was having problems with. I can't seem to figure out how to isolate spell effects or enchant effects, so I get stuck trying to use smudge and blur tools to make my own, and its just not as good. I'm not very good at text effects, I manually do a simple text outline, or I duplicate the layer and static, colorize, box blur the lower layer. and that just doesn't look that great. I know there has to be a better way. The only time my text looks really polished is if I can work with one of photoshops preloaded effects, and they pretty much all suck. I have no clue how the lighting effects work, I love the way circuit puts those accents on his text, and i can't seem to figure out how its done. Last edited by snow24; March 28, 2008 at 07:38 AM.. |

Re: Signatures Similar to Circuit ones
Really nice Sig you have there snow24, preety much similar to Circuit ones, wonderful job.
As for mines, sadly i still didnt had the desirable time to focus on this, the spare time for WoW is spent on Sunwell now but i will focus on Sig in the future. |

Re: Signatures Similar to Circuit ones
Very nice indeed. Some good work there Snow24.
Use layers to isolate effects that way you can change them if you don't like them since your not doing anything to the original. Don't be afraid to but out a section of your model that you want on top of an effect and paste it into a new layer so you can get stuff under it. Most weapon enchant effects are done that way by me. Selective eraser tool use works well also to get that over and under feel to it. I found some nice brushes for the base spell effects but unfortunately I have no idea where I got them from... I know I use Deviant Art a lot so if might be from there. Spell effects can be done yourself though once you get some styles down for glow and such. Just experiment with multiple layers of the same effect adding blur under and over the original along with some glow. Try to think like a painter and build your effects from bottom to top. Most text effects are done with styles. There is no need to manually do them unless you want something really snazzy. Experiment. Lighting/shading is done with the Burn and Dodge tools. Your can burn shadows or dodge highlights. hth Last edited by Circuit; April 20, 2008 at 06:41 AM.. |
