Unexpected insane crit.

I dinged 48 tonight. Learned a new spell called "soul fire"

Now i hadnt heard much talk about soul fire, so i assumed it was just another ho hum attack.

After id skilled up, i head out of Orgrimmar to test out soul fire on the first thing that i could attack. I was expecting it to be a damage over time or something.

Have i peaked too soon? Will i ever see that again? Thats just la la!

Not at 48 you won't.

I assume you have ruin, and got a +100% vulnerability bonus from CoE. 650 damage soul fire + 650 = 1300, x2 for a crit = 2600. Tadah!

by the same math you can crit for 3200ish with the higher rank one and no +damage talents or gear, but getting +100% vulnerability bonus is stupid rare.

The curse bonus was 530, if i recall.

Its just i totally wasnt expecting anything from the spell. And i go and break my crit record, by over 1100!

please note these mobs are weak to shadow, and so i did 300% damage on them (or something like that)
it could go even higher, maybe i'll specc back to a ruin or damage-build just to see what happends ^^

I've seen Soul Fire crit for over 8000.

Here is a 15429 Soul Fire crit in BWL (due to buffs, etc and also appears ZHC + ToEP used).Ã‚ No it wasn't me.........

Shiro,

I posted that link on my guild website and some people are saying that pic must have been modified.Ã‚ I believe you 100%, but can you or anyone else run the math on how that crit was possible?

Edit - One of our less cynical (and probably a lot smarter ;)) guildies checked the pic on photoshop and said that if it had been photoshopped, then the person that did it was a genius and it would have taken hours. His conclusion was that it was real.

It's called critline. Here is a mod for it in Titan panel. http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=1687

I'm not sure if there is a stand alone version but I'm almost certain there is.
