Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian is legendary quest item. The quest begins inside Naxxramas, and involves obtaining several parts of the staff.

• It can be used by mages, warlocks, priests and druids.
• The item stats vary slightly for each class.
• It is the first legendary caster item added to the game, debuting in Patch 1.11
• The cloth portion of the staff varies based on which version it is: Green for Druids, Red for Mages, White for Priests and Blue for Warlocks.

Known Location

• The staff has been splintered into 42 pieces.
• Kel'Thuzad has the head part of it.
• Kel'Thuzad's underlings hold 40 splinters.
• The base was uncovered by Brann Bronzebeard, who was last seen in Silithus.

Brann Bronzebeard, as far as we know, is lost. If you kill bugs in the Silithus hives, eventually you'll find a letter he wrote. It's believed that one of the AQ40 bosses now holds the base. Perhaps C'thun

Yeah, good luck getting the 40 splinters for the staff, BoP ftw...plus getting the head from kel'thuzzad, unfortunately my guild is doing it one person at a time, while making sense makes me cry cause I'm not that person.

IMO 40 splinters won't be hard for a guild raiding naxx. The drop of the splinters around 20-50%, and 10+ bosses in naxx, so if only one person is getting them it shouldnt take too long. ('less blizz nerfs drop rate )

The more challenging part will probibly be getting the other two pieces to drop off Kel'Thuzzad and finding that stupid dw0rf

Well a full clear of naxx would grant you 12 at most, while only half of the bosses have a drop rate higher than 10% according to allakhazam.com, with naxxrammas only resetting every 7 days, it would take 4 full naxx clears to get 40, granted the 12 bosses drop one each, which we all know is most likely not to happen. It's a long proccess indeed, and not meaning to sound like a loot whore but it's frustrating not knowing when I'll get my chance at it. We started raiding on the 21st of june and have gotten 23 splinters to one of the mages so far, so hopefully it'll only be another month or so before we can get him the staff, which he well deserves btw. From personal expierence I would project it'd take 2 months to get all the splinters and the head guess the head has a 100% drop rate off kel'thuzzad, and the base is from Ouro of AQ40, who apparently ate the dwarf who once had it.
