Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
The easiest way I found to deal with the adds is a 2 point scorch path. The entire raid except for the tanks stand on the water, and they move away from the side that the adds are brought from if they're too close. This helps with keeping the constructs from beating on the raid, and it makes it a bit easier for the offtanks to see the adds. Here's a diagram I made for my guild for this fight (poorly drawn, of course):

Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
Stupid warlock trick for Ignis: Assuming your healers are up to it and you have no other instant that you need to cast, you should lifetap just after flamejet hits while you are in the air. This will keep your Lifetap glyph up nearly 100% and not waste a global doing it. "But Kiralyn, why would you lifetap when the raid is taking damage?" Because if the flamejet doesn't kill you, and you aren't doing something like standing in fire, you know exactly how much damage you are about to take. Plus, healers are already looking to heal the raid at this point. Yes, you'll soak a little more healing, but in most cases, you are getting a flat about of healing at this point anyway via AoE heals. If anything, you are helping to reduce overheal. Keep in mind that using any other instant in your rotation is preferable here if possible, be it refreshing a curse of hitting that nightfall proc, but if there isn't anything else available, it's a great time to tap for that glyph bonus. As always, be aware. If you are not topped up before the jet and tap to almost nothing after it hits, you could die from some other damage. If your healers aren't quick to switch targets or are locked out from the jet and you get put in the pot, you need to be hitting a healthstone/potion to help cover heals. If you are standing in a fire when this happens, you are probably going to kill yourself. Be aware and use this intelligently and good things can come of it.

Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
Kiralyn is right on this One thing to add though is that very little extra life is taken from life tap rank 1 if the intention is just to get the life tap buff without burdening healing. I usually do rank 1 and somewhere when I know the raid is mostly topped up, I do the high ranking life tap to actually use it to truly get mana back I find that keeps me up through Ignis being downed. I usually do need at least one real life tap, but most of them can be rank 1. -- One additional tip, Ignis really doesn't move so I turn off intercept on the felguard when I am doing this in a demo hybrid spec. For some annoying reason, even though I have my demon on passive, he tends to intercept adds on occasion if it's left on. Since the intercept also has a stun effect, it kind of annoys those off-tanks that are attempting to drag the adds where they want them. |

Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
In my guild I'm usually the one exploding the adds. I tried Chaos Bolt at first but it wouldn't quite get to 5k sometimes, so what i started doing is putting an immolate on the add when it becomes molten then using conflag, which hardly ever gets below 7k. |

Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
My guild is having some problems with this fella on 10 man. I see the strategy mentions we can use pet/VW on adds. If anyone has done this can they jot down a few pointers for me? Thanks |

Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
Well you can check out the movie of our first kill (my prosepctive). It was done on 24.04.2009. We use Warr tanking him around the room, DK to get the adds into the flames, druid to root them so they can stack the debuff. This was before the nerfs on the stacks for turning the adds into molten. it should be even easier now. YouTube - EgO VS Ignis the Furnace Master Best Regards, Ugly1 |

Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
As 0/41/30 spec with nice spellpower, I am the brittle construct killer. Incinerate reliably does the job and is fast enough cast for me that if first incinerate fails to do 5k+ on first shot, I have time for 2nd shot easily, or to kill a second brittle construct if we are behind on adds for some reason. If I happen to get locked out of fire accidentally, shadowbolt still does the job easily. I also throw Curse of Elements on it (whenever possible ) as it is being dragged/deathgripped to the water. We have been using 4 point scorch, so I demonic circle in the center and use during jets if needed to make sure I land within range. I know its not rocket science, but perhaps this will help someone.

Re: Ignis the Furnace Master - Boss Strat
Does anyone else have a problem using healthstones when they're placed in the slag pot? I always try to use one if I see no heals incoming for some reason, and in the combatlog it says "immune" to my healthstone. Then I'm usually out of time to take a pot. I asked my guildies and none of them seem to have this problem, so maybe it's just because ist my own healthstone or whatever, or is this a bug? |
