© The Warlocks Den 2009. All rights reserved. Not to be copied or redistributed without prior written approval. XT002 Deconstructor XT002 Deconstructor is the only required boss that a raid will encounter after killing the Flame Leviathan. XT002 stands in the Scrapyard, guarding the entrance to the lower tiers of Ulduar. He is a giant mechanical with the mind of a child, who likes to play with toys but appears to have a habit of breaking them. Hard Mode XT-002 Deconstructor's Hard Mode can be activated during any of the Add Phases. Destroying the exposed Heart of the Deconstructor will give XT-002 several new abilities. (see abilities section) When hard mode is activated, he gains 25% damage and 40% more health. Additionally, he heals back to full, effectively restarting the fight. It's important to note that switching him to hard mode DOES NOT reset the enrage timer, so the later your raid activates it, the harder it will be to complete. General Information (trash information still to come) XT002 Deconstructor The room where the encounter is performed is basically just a big square, with scrap piled up against the four corners. There's a 6 minute hard enrage for both normal and heroic modes. On normal mode, XT002 has approximately 6 million hps, and 18 million hps on heroic mode. There are two phases to the fight; a boss DPS phase, and an adds phase. (which is also a boss DPS phase!) The fight changes to the add phase every 25% hitpoints. (75% hp, 50% hp, and 25% hp) During the add phase, XT002 becomes untargettable, spawns adds from the scrap heaps in the corners, and exposes his heart to the raid. The add phase lasts for 20 seconds, and while the heart is exposed it can be DPSed and will take double damage. Any damage done to the heart will transfer back to XT002 itself. The heart itself has 1.5 millions hps on normal mode, and 10 million hps on heroic. Break the heart completely, however, and you trigger the hard mode. Adds do not despawn after the 20 second phase; any left alive will still need to be dealt with. Abilities – Normal Mode
Abilities – Herioc Mode
XM-024 Pummeller Hitpoints: ~220k Trample – (melee range) Inflicts normal damage plus additional damage to nearby enemies. Arcing Smash – (5 yards) Lashes out in a vicious arc, inflicting damage to enemies in a cone in front of the caster. Uppercut – (10 yards) Inflicts normal damage plus 50 to an enemy, knocking it back. XS-013 Scrapbot Hitpoints: ~6.5k The XS-013 Scrapbots run to XT002 Deconstructor to repair it. For each one that manages to reach XT002 they will heal him for 100k hitpoints in normal mode, or 250k hitpoints in heroic mode. XE-321 Boombot Hitpoints: ~50k Once they reach 50% hitpoints, the Boombot's will explode for 12-13k damage to all items surrounding them. This includes players and mobs. Strategy XT002 is very definitely a gear and raid co-ordination check. DPS need to be able to sustain approximately 3.5k on the boss, and everyone needs to be on their toes to avoid damaging other raid members due to the Gravity Bomb and Light Bomb. Adds need to be handled appropriately, and the scrapbots in particular should never be allowed to reach XT002. Suggested Raid Composition: Normal Mode:
Heroic Mode:
The general consensus is to tank XT002 at the stairs that lead deeper into Ulduar. This gives the raid a bit more time to react to the adds during add phase. Due to the AE nature of his attacks (light bomb and gravity bomb) DPS need to spread out as much as possible. However, this tactic really depends on the healers you have, and how much AE healing can be thrown around. If a player is hit with Light Bomb, the damage is relatively low, and it's best to stay in place and be healed through it. If a player is hit with Gravity Bomb, however, they should move away to ensure that they're out of range of as many players as possible. This will be more difficult for the melee characters than the ranged. When fighting XT002, the ideal strategy involves stopping him from using Tympanic Tantrum as much as possible. This is achieved by starting the add phase before he uses the ability. Tympanic Tantrum is triggered every 60 seconds while in phase one. Forcing him into the add phase will pause the timer. Since the hearts have exactly 25% of his hitpoints, if you can DPS as low as possible without triggering hard mode (killing the heart) during the add phase, when he returns to phase one it only requires a short period of time to force him into another add phase, thereby avoiding the Tantrum for as long as possible. You can think of it like setting up a Street Fighter combo. Get the initial strike in, then keep on rolling for massive damage. Get that inital 25% down and the add phase going, then keep the DPS up on the heart. Blow cooldowns, Bloodlust etc from 95% on, and then once the heart is out, keep the DPS going. Ideally you can chain from add phase to boss phase and then back to add phase with a minimal amount of time between add phases. During the add phase, adds will spawn from all four corners of the room. XM-024 Pummeller These adds must be picked up either by the off-tank or the main tank. They do relatively little damage on a geared tank, so simply tanking them while DPSing the boss / heart is the recommended method. No DPS should touch these guys until XT002 is down. Depending on your main tank's gear, it may be possible to bring only the one tank and an extra DPS. While the add phase is in progress, XT002 won't move, giving your main tank time to round up the adds and return to his tanking position before the phase ends. XE-321 Boombot When the Boombots reach 50% health, they will explode for 12k damage, damaging everything within . This includes players and other robots. You can try to bring them close to XT002 and explode them to deal 24k damage, but since it will also damage your melee players, this will require some practice, and may not be worth the effort. If the Boombots are up at the same time as the Scrapbots, you can try to blow them up in the middle of them or simply used ranged DPS to kill them when they're not near any players. XS-013 Scrapbot The scrapbots have quite low hitpoints, but if they reach XT002, they will heal him. AE these guys down ASAP. They can be snared, rooted, frost nova'd etc. Shadow Priest AE is good here, as it moves with the mobs, rather than being static in place like most other AE abilities. During the add phase, there is relatively little damage being taken by players, so it is worth your healers DPSing as much as possible. In fact, certrainly while you're still learning the fight, you probably will need your healers DPSing during this phase in order beat the enrage timer. To maximise the damage done during this phase, ranged DPS should stay at max range from XT002. This way, they can keep DPSing the boss until the adds are in range of them, and then take them down. All going well, you'll be able to avoid the Tympanic Tantrum until the last 25%. Try not to get too far away from the healers when killing the adds, as if you've managed to avoid the tantrum so far, there is a good chance that it will trigger after the add phase. Combined with the daze effect on the tantrum, it can make it quite difficult to get back in range in time. If you are unable to avoid the Tantrum, there are some tricks to help minimise the damage that your raid members are taking.

re: XT-002 Deconstructor - Boss Strat
My guild just downed this guy last night on 10man for the first time and I thought i would share my experience from a locks's perspective. We wiped for a bout 2 hrs before we finally got him and the strategy that did it for us was to make boss dps top priority and put off the adds till the last second. His enrage timer is not 10 min, i beleive it is 6 min now (possibly 8 i dont remember), and he kept enraging on us at about 10%. Our grp was full 25man naxx geared, mostly 5k dps and above, and we had to find just a few seconds here and there throughout the fight where we could squeak out just a little more boss dps. Attacking his heart is important when he deactivates, it does 100% increased damage to the boss, so the longer you can stay on the heart before dealing with the adds the better. Dont kill the heart for hard mode, but dps it as much as you can as it dmgs the boss too. Our strategy involved assigning 1 dps to each corner for the adds, and if no adds spawned in that corner that dps would work on the heart. As a lock i was invariably assigned to aoe the adds in 1 corner and it was not too hard to get the first wave down and get back to the boss. The trick here is to make sure and tap enough before you go to your corner, cause you are out of range of healers. Get yourself enough mana for 5-6 seeds to get the small robots, and a couple SBs/Incins to take out the bombs fast. When the first wave is down, get back to the boss and dps him again. This does 2 things. 1 - you are putting all your dps on the boss and racing the enrage timer better, and 2 - you are in range of healing for his tantrum which happens right after the first wave of adds. Healing range was a real issue on this fight as it required alot of people to be spread out alot and the room is huge. There will be a second wave of adds, but you really need to focus on the boss and be in range of heals between the waves, just keep an eye out for the second wave while you are on the boss and take them out as late as possible, before they get to him. The larger elite robots that come just need to be tanked by your offtank, they do very little damage and can be tanked through the first 3 phases, at which point there life is so low that you can kill them with just a couple quick hits from dps. Dont dps these guys until they are a problem for the offtank, which should not be until later in the fight. Boss dps is too important here to waste it on these adds. Be carefull though if you are assigned to handle the adds in a corner, these elites do not pull agro right away, but if a seed pops late and gets them when they are near the center of the room, they will agro on you and you will need to call out for your offtank to pick them up and run over to him. The light and gravity wells were pretty simple once we set up a position for everyone that was 10 yards away from everyone else. Think KT, use /distance and stay 10 yards from everyone, that way you dont have to run out of the raid and risk not being in range of heals. Overall this was a very fun fight and pretty hard from a technical standpoint. Everyone needs to know exactly what they are doing and when, and it needs to go almost perfectly, or you will hit the enrage timer. Good Luck! |

Yep, I agree. I get assigned to one corner (or in 10 man, one side), and SF and RoF are definately an awesome combo. Conflag works wonders on the bomb carriers too for a quick kill. DC teleport in the middle to return to dps on Deconstructor. PS. I <3 his voice!

re: XT-002 Deconstructor - Boss Strat
Ok here's the problem - we took on deconstructor in 10 man last night and used the tactics set out here (although we came to them ourselves - note to self read the den before raiding!!!) we were all pulling between 2.8 - 3.2 k dps on good naxx 25 gear and as a group we have succesfully raided together for a number of years (upto BT and MH The Burning Crusade and NAXX 10 & 25 Wrath of the Lich King) - but we kept smashing our head against the raid timer at 10% we ensured b lust went up on first heart we ignored adds to get to the second heart quickly (usually needing to burn 300k i.e boss was on 3.3k after first heart) we off tanked the pummelers we took the scrap bots with, on our best try none getting through (and only max 2 on other tries) The raid dps was made up pf two locks - 1 affliction (Me) one demo dest - a death knight; 1 hunter 1 shadow priest - and on best try we had no deaths healers were druid; shaman; disc priest tanks MT feral druid and pally OT we didnt do a combat log so i cant post actual raid stats (we will do so next time) The point is i know that Ulduar is tougher but as a group we are sitting there on gear and enchants and gems that ensured we easily cleared naxx 10 and 25 and took malyglos etc etc - so i refuse to believe the problems were play style - we do know what we are doing - so where can we squeeze that last 10% my gut feel is we have to hit the heart harder in phase 1 to get it to phase 2 quicker - but any ideas you guys have will be very appreciated - we are back in Tuesday Ashimi (is my priest) Perite is my warlock _ Brewmasters of Kalimdor on defias Brotherhood |

re: XT-002 Deconstructor - Boss Strat
We downed this guy on 10 man Saturday and tonight on the 25 man version. The only difference is the damage done and hp basicly. 10 man we assigned a ranged to 1 corner each to aoe the adds. We took about 1 hr before we downed him and the strategy we used was to BL at about 90% to get to 1st heart phase and then get on heart while aoe'ing down the adds as they came. We got the heart to 10% on each phase which left us with about 6-8% left to get to next phase. I cant stress how important it is to get the heart down as far as you can w/o killing it. He does 2 different bombs 1 which pulls others into within 10 yards and does 19-21k damage. Raid makeup was 1 lock 41/30 (me), 1 coh priest, pally healer, rogue, enhance shammy, Druid OT, Pally MT, Hunter, dps warrior, and mage. We downed him with about 30 sec left on enrage. 25 man we did a little differently. We split up into 3 groups each with 2 healers to heal through tantrum and bombs (had about 8 healers 1 of which was offspec resto). BL at about 95% to get to Heart phase and dps down the heart. just like in 10 man did all we could to the heart to get to next phase quickly. On this run though we killed him in the middle of enrage with tanks popping all CD's that they could to stay alive. Adds were dealt with by whoever was on that side. Left and right side were ranged mainly with all the middle being melee (besides healers of course) Also during the heart phase it is probably a good idea to have healers dps as well if you are having enrage problems. We did that to some extent, but also had plent of regen and replenishments in the raid to keep their mana up. No cloth dropped in either kill sadly these bosses havent liked me so farEdit: we OT'ed the Pummelers as well and finished them during the next add phase. re: XT-002 Deconstructor - Boss Strat
The only suggestions i would have for beating the timer are to follow Vanamman's advice about the heart, and then do what my raid did and analyze every single action you take during the fight and find ways to get just a little more dps time on the boss. We continued to hit the enrage at about 10% also, it sounds like our raids are very similar. We were forced to scrutinize every action by every player during the entire encounter and find our tiniest mistakes. Wiping over and over on the same encounter will eventually lead to a better understanding of every aspec of it, and an increased efficiency from all players. Just keep trying! |

re: XT-002 Deconstructor - Boss Strat
We decided to do it with 2 AoE'ers. I took the front and the other guy(mage) took the back. If there was a group on each side, I took the left side. We didn't need to call it out on Vent, but I did anyway to be safe. If the adds were in the back, I found the best thing to do was to stay at max range of the boss and not attack the adds until they were just within my max range. Running back to kill them only wasted a lot of time, they are really easy to kill before they make it to the boss as they are double the distance in yards away from the boss as you can cast and only have ~5500hp. If by chance I had seeds ticking away on mobs not ready to detonate as they started getting a little past me, I would run over a bit and Shadowflame them to pop the seeds. Blowing up the big bombs to take out the small adds is good too. People in my raid wanted me to blow them up by the boss to do extra damage on him, but that was a really stupid idea. The big bombs pop for 12k which is a huge deal on a player and practically nothing on a boss. |

re: XT-002 Deconstructor - Boss Strat
Thanks guys - we're also thinking about using the main tank to tank the pummelers at the base of the boss - allowing the OT to respec dps to add damage onto the heart with our hunter being the only really fast main dps in the raid - the 2 locks and shadow priest have to spend gcd's winding up to max damage - we were losing small amounts of dps - maybe need to look at raid comp again thanks for the suggestions |

For aoe shadopwriest is awesome as theirs move with the mobs and 1-2 casts is enough to kill them. |
