re: Ulduar Boss Optimization - Discussion Thread
The first two weeks I was full Demo, using Soul Link and Demon Armor tanking this - last night I used 53/1/17 with Imp out and Demon Armor - and actually the healers noticed no real difference - and my damage was much better. So it appears to be a toss up. |

Quote:
The main purpose of being affliction there it has the best long term single target dps over the other specs and while doing it you healing yourself a lot. You can actually see you are grabbing aggro on scrap bots cuz of the healing you doing on yourself :D --- Information Added --- Quote:

But for speaking FG/ember last tests i did showed that imp is doing a little better on general fight then felguard becuase of the -melee speed it gets from boss. i will try edit first post for this. Quote:

re: Ulduar Boss Optimization - Discussion Thread
It would be good to touch upon the possibility of our pets dying in each boss encounter in Ulduar, especially for Felguard/Meta/Destruction specs. From what I've seen:
Just halfway through Ulduar though so feedback from other warlocks would be much appreciated. Question: Which 2 specs would you bring to an Ulduar full clear, since each spec has it's own glory fights and gloomy times? I'm currently running 54/2/15 and 3/14/54, but I can't help feeling that Destruction is not pulling its weight, and even as Affliction I'm constantly falling behind cat druids and unholy DKs on the meters. One more question: how important is Soul Link when learning a fight? 20% mitigation, in my experience, has been rather valuable where there is heavy raid damage, since it takes some strain off my healers and I don't have to pop healthstones/potions too early only to be stuck without it later. |

Re: Ulduar Boss Optimization - Discussion Thread
Edited the thread title to include the term 'Discussion Thread'. I think if we can get enough discussion going, we could turn this into a really useful post/guide. I really like Introverse's idea and think that would be a really good inclusion. So, anyone willing to tackle it?

Re: Ulduar Boss Optimization - Discussion Thread
I'll just like to add on about pets in Ulduar having ran through the fights several times, although some info may still be inaccurate, and my guild's still working on Thorim so I can't provide any useful knowledge about the fights beyond (ie Mimiron, Vezax, Yogg-Saron). Flame Leviathan: If you're on turret duty, you'll be protected from all sorts of damage flying around outside. However, pets are sadly not immune. I have not tested whether a Felguard can intercept to other turrets (you're immobile while on the vehicle), but anyway, without a healer onboard your pet will be taken out by all the pew pew going on outside. Razorscale: Pets (both hunters' and warlocks') attempting to attack Razorscale while she is airbone will be stuck at some remote spot east of the "brown ring" and appears to attract Devouring Flames. Avoidance makes sure it doesn't get fried instantly but you would want to call it back or hope someone bothers to heal it. XT-002: Light Bomb will kill your pet: it does not do AoE damage, instead it puts a DoT on anyone near the bombed target and there is no mitigation for it. This is more of a problem for the imp rather than the melee pets since melee with bomb will run out, but ranged personnel may not be moving. Just try to keep the imp with you if you use one. Council: Pets will benefit from Runes of Power. A Felhunter can devour Shield of Runes, and interrupt Stormcaller's casting. Auriaya: The Feral Defender can, and will, destroy pets. It has powerful burst capabilities and you ought to be prepared to lose it if healers don't notice the defender tearing through its health. Take out the defender as quickly as possible for the first few lives to reduce its damage and minimize the time it spends beating the daylights out of anyone, or any pet. Hodir: As far as I know, pets are not affected by Biting Cold, Flash Freeze, and possibly Frozen Blows. It also appears unlikely that they are buffed by Toasty Fires, Storms or Starlights either. |
