When to abandon FG?
I posted this question on Blizzards forums, but, like usual, i only got one response, and it was from a troll, so I thought I'd come here for some real advice.
I am looking for advice on when to respec out of a FG/demo build. I went full aff till 55, then switched to demo for FG, and, although boring, it suited my playstyle well (lots of solo questing, small amount of world pvp, virtually no instances), and 55-65 were really easy to solo with the FG - he held aggro and had decent support dps. I recently started questing in Nagrand, and for the first time since getting the FG, I am starting to immediatly pull aggro off of him. Generally my casting order on single mobs is Curse of Agony, (send in FG at the same time), corr, immo (only if the mob is a couple levels higher), lifetap, drain life, dead mob, repeat. I used to not pull aggro until the very end of the drain life, but now I always pull it by the start of the drain, if not earlier. So is now the time to respec aff? And, given that I like to slowly solo, with less than 3 mobs at a time, any advice on pet? Is the VW for taunting/aoe taunt going to hold aggro at all? Is imp VW worth it at all? Should I just figure out how to be satisfied with draintanking and using imp or succy? Or should my extra talent points be going into destro? Sorry for the long question, any advice would be appreciated. |

Re: When to abandon FG?
It seems to me that you look at it backwards, you want to pick a spec because of the spellrotation you use. You probably should find a spec that suits you, and following that use/or find a spellrotation that suits you with the spec.
If you enjoyed the FG but he looses aggro, maybe change something in your spellroatation? Instead of Curse of Agony, Corr, Immo, use CoS, Corr, drain life maybe etc ( though I am surprised he looses aggro too). The Void will hold no better aggro then the FG im my experience, opposite actually, the Void needs more ahead of time-tanking, though if he has that, he holds aggro decently. The imp Void is definitely worth his 3 points if you use him as main-pet. Your other spec questions are hard to be answered, since no one can tell you what is best for you or suits you best for style. But sounds like you have grown tired of the FG in general, and are bored with it. So maybe it is time to spec into something else. |

Re: When to abandon FG?
I had the FG all the way to level 70 and above(for grinding for mount) and he never got to the point of always losing aggro(even with plus 900 spell damage). Maybe you are doing something wrong or maybe, this is what i am thinking. Did you forget to buy the upgraded spells for him yet? That is the only thing i can think of or maybe you turned his aggro ability off lol just mess around with him

Re: When to abandon FG?
you never need to abandon your FG, unless for very mana extensive fight requiring a pure affli spec (seems in 25-raid like serpentine things that i do not know). In karazhan, your FG is a killing machine.

Re: When to abandon FG?
once you hit 70 you can re-spec to what ever you want they will all work well . its what will work well for your play style.
About felguard not holding agro.. I was having this problem to at one point. its really easy: - send in Felguard - let him get a cleave-in - then start with Curse of Agony, Curruption - IF you want to throw in an immolate I usually first thow in a torrment first. |

When to abandon FG? - when the overhwhelming desire to get Ruin into your build takes over.

Re: When to abandon FG?
Same with me, I usually "never" get aggro when using my FG. As long as I don't start spamming SBs or use Soulfire as an opener.
You should check his spells if you already own all of them. |
