Infernal - Very Disappointed

Ok so after 14 deaths..5 rebuilds on my armor (Kroshius does hit like a freight train..oh the pain..) and more &#***$$* hours i care to share i finally soloed Kroshius as a level 52 affy lock...it was VERY painful and i figure great so now i get a greaat new tough pet right?..WRONG...he is crap.. .

Costs money to summon (not that expensive..but still is coin..)

Hits like VW + a bit and dies so much quicker..I summoned him at searing gorge and he got taken out by 4 taskmaster dwarfs...

One hour cooldown on the spell ??..

Finally ~5mins before he tries to attack you

I mean we can start infernal at 50 and we get FG at 50 as well..Why did blizz even bother creating Infernal??..why not just make our existing pet a bit better??..for those around the same level..dont waste yer time..i wasnt impressed...the only thing fun is after the 5mins you get to show him just how much you appeciate his help!!

Re: Infernal - Very Disappointed

This has been complained about for years. The CM response has been that the developers wanted to give us a powerful pet that was on a long cool down. They did not want the doomguard or infernal to be a persistent pet. I suppose it was probably in the same category as lay on hands, battle rez's, warrior shield wall/recklessness, etc. Unfortunately, the doomguard/infernal were never balanced correctly and so they remain incredibly weak. The dev's dont intend to fix them either so you can think of it as original release content that has been largely ignored.

Dont get your hopes up for the doomguard at 60. It's worse than the infernal.

Re: Infernal - Very Disappointed

The infernal is very powerful for creating chaos when dropped on groups. The initial stun is very nice, and it's immune to fear allowing it to stick to priests very well. If you're demo spec, sac your demo before you summon one and you have a DS buff and a pet at the same time.

It's not the greatest pet ever, but it has its uses.

I mean "you get the infernal quest at 50"...and you can get FG at 50 as well...granted infernal has been there for longer..but for a newer player like me he doesnt make sense when you look at the big picture...

Also in a PvP if infernal is summoned after 5min who does he attack?..interesting?

He's strong - but not invincible ;)

I generally only use him for PvP - the stun will stop a zerg in its tracks and he'll draw attention away from the rest of your group while your opponents try to burn him down.

Re: Infernal - Very Disappointed

Think of it as a 1 hour cooldown mega-grenade The quest isn't really difficult and it adds flavor to the game.

Doomguard is more useful (his spells are really powerful) but is a pain to summon

Re: Infernal - Very Disappointed

Ironically I spent the majority of my weekend working on this Infernal quest. I hit 50 and decided to give it a try, recruited my 49 Pally buddy to help out. So after lots of traveling and collecting those essences we finally ignited Kroshius.

I read that enslaving one of the 52 Elite Guards and having him fight could work, so I tried it. No need to summarize because that blew up QUICK. Enslave, send in guard, guard hits twice, breaks enslavement, then both of them CRUSH us.

After a few attempts I ran out of Soul Shards and my Pally friend was complaining about repair costs. So after discussing one last strategy we look up and Kroshius is GONE. And no, the flame did not re-appear back in my bag.

So what, now I have to go and collect those essences all over again? If Infernal is as crappy as mentioned above I just might blow off the quest until I am in the upper 50's.
