Controlling pet abilities
I read that most warlocks tend to use a felhunter when fighting against paladins because of the debuffs and spell interrupts. So I decided to try it out last night and was pleasantly surprised by how much mana the paladin had to use up to keep himself buffed, however I remember reading that alot of warlocks will save the spell interrupt for last when the paladin is looking for a critical heal while not bubbled. I was going to try that out, but the felhunter insisted on using the spell interrupt on his own terms, actually using all of his abilites without me having any control other then attack, stay, and follow. What must I do to be able to control his abilities manually?

Re: Controlling pet abilities
That's because you have those abilities all turned on. You can turn those off so you can manually spell lock or any other ability. Right mouse click on the spell in the pet bar to deactivate it's automatic use. At least I think it's a right mouse click.
I havent done it in awhile. |

Re: Controlling pet abilities
On the Pet bar if the spell has a glow going around the border, then the pet will use that as soon as it has no cooldown.
Just right click on the spell and the border should turn off... .then you can simply click the pet spell when you want to use it. Just as if it were your own. |

Re: Controlling pet abilities
I use a selection of macros.
Trick #1. any pets ability can be cast by name in a macro using the /cast ability. For instance /Cast Spell Lock will cast spell lock. One of the first things I did is make a macro for devour magic. /cast [target=player] Devour Magic I use this one to consume Polymorph, Fear, magic dots, etc. It cleanses me. /cast Devour Magic This one is simple and just devours buffs on my target. If fancy I might do /cast [pet:felhunter] Devour Magic /cast [pet:succubus] Lash of Pain That would make a macro that would Lash my target if I had a succub and Devour Magic if I had a felhunter. I haven't tested it but I will be moving more of my macros into pet aware versions on my own UI. One thing to be aware of if the limited range of these abilities. I make sure to send my felhunter to attack targets that are casters pre-emptively so that he will be in range when I want to interrupt or devour buffs from a target. I hope this helps. -Tattersail |

Re: Controlling pet abilities
In the past I fould myself in bad PUGs for Shadow Labyrinth, where during the first boss fight nobody would run to the tank after being mass feared. I made a little macro on the spot and my felhunter dispelled the tank's fear...often.
