Observations on the Succubus
Hello everyone,
This will be my first post in this fine forum. I really feel the need to share some of my observations about the succubus. Firstly I am a new WoW player and new Warlock. I've only been playing for about a month now and the warlock is my 3rd character. LOVE it! By far my easiest soloer and the most fun to play. I still get a charge out of hearing the voidwalker say "Why have you summoned me?" . But back on topic- After achieving level 20 this past weekend, I used the fine guide on this site to acquire my Succubus. Thank you Akasha! Apart from the traveling it really wasn't too terrible. I play alliance so I was worried about my first trip into enemy territory even on a PVE server. All of the Horde I ran into couldn't seem to care less though. They must be used to Warlocks running through on this quest. Even getting the Hearstwood from the tree wasn't bad. The worst part was getting up the nerve to take the first shot against other warlocks, but again I took Akasha's advice and sent my VW after their pet and nuked the caster. So I arrive back in SW triumphant, defeat the summoned succubus, get kudos from Gavin and go back outside to summon my very own succy. Here's where my glow starts to fade. And please remember that this is from the point of view of a new and casual player. #1 I need a new outfit. I feel positively homely standing beside her. So off to the AH to find a suitably vampy outfit(with good stats of course) to compete with her S&M merry widow. Of course while standing in the relative silence of the AH I keep hearing the giggle and whip cracking. Now this never bothered me before when it was someone else's succy. But when it's my own succy I feel like my 3yo is standing in the grocery store saying "Look at my weewee everybody!" at the top of his lungs. Which leads to observation #2... #2 She has the most annoying sound-effects of any character in WoW barring maybe the Murlocs, IMHO. That I have heard thus far. That uh-huh grunt she uses when she's fighting drives me crazy. I'm sure teenage boys love her however. #3 She has less HP's then I do! Which is very disconcerting after the voidwalker. I end up being the tank during fights which I really don't like as I hate coming anywhere near dying. *sigh* So for now she has been put away and my trusty VW is again my main man. I'm sure she has her uses especially in instances(which I havn't done) but for now I feel like I went to a lot of trouble to get a sub-par pet. I have found a thread here on her uses, so I'm off to go read it now. If you made it this far, Thanks for listening! |

Re: Observations on the Succubus
She is a great pet if you get round the anoying effects - the only one slapping their bum and giggling round here is me you here! ME!!!!!
Most pets are a bit rubbish when you first get them but they start getting more skills and you will learn when to use her and when not too. Make sure you come back with any questions you have after reading up on her (as you said you were doing). Nice story btw - make me chuckle... errr i mean slap my *** and giggle. |

Re: Observations on the Succubus
The pets are all good IMHO. I love each one of them in their own way. Succy is great if you are grouped and have a tank. She really can dish out the damage and if you run into anything rough he CC is priceless. I really didn't realize how good she was until I took her in the BG. Man she really helps out alot. I am demo specced so now i mainly use my FG but pre FG I used her for pvp always.

Re: Observations on the Succubus
As other people have mentioned, the succy isn't a replacement for the Voidwalker. As you keep going up through the levels and into groups you'll find all the pets have their uses. Akasha has summed up the info much better than I could on the Pets section of this site.
Having said that, the succy is the pet I use the least. Other than to keep her skills trained, I haven't summoned her in 10 levels, maybe longer. It's been on my to do list for a while to pull her out of retirement and practice on the Dalaran Wizards in the Silverpine Forest. ![]() |

Re: Observations on the Succubus
I did go and read a few of the threads on her uses yesterday.
CC- check damage- check Got it. Don't get me wrong, she's a cool pet and any pet is better than none, but I don't see me using her that often at my early levels. Later on and in instances I'm sure she'll see more action. I also dinged 23 last night and stopped to get her soothing kiss at 22. Havn't tried that out yet..... maybe when I'm grinding tonight. I'll definitely be checking out that sound effect mod though! ![]() |
