Silly Voidwalker
I`m a level 18 warlock and it hapens me quite often. I am facing a mob, I send in my Voidwalker and cast Corr at the same time. Mob starts aproaching me at half distance I manage to cast Curse of Agony. The Voidvalkr casts Torment and takes the mob on him. I begin casting Immo, the mob is nead me but it`s fighting the voidwalker.....and now the stupid stuff: My Immo cast bar is almost full but the mob gets far behind me while Fighting the Voidwalker and I get that nice "Facing the wrong way". What can I do against this problem? How can I tel the Void "stop and don`t go behind me"?

Re: Silly Voidwalker
You can rotate in the spot without breaking your cast. Always try to face your opponent when casting any spell that has a cast time. Your void will only move according to how the mob moves. You can't really control that very well. One thing I always try to do is send the void at a mob at your maximum spellcasting distance, wait until void has first taunt in, then start casting. Almost always, that will provide you with enough time to apply as much damage as you want before the mob can get to you. The longer the mob has to get to you, the longer it isn't hitting anyone. Hope that helps.

Re: Silly Voidwalker
The problem is that I don`t manage to rotate fast enough to face the mob when I am in the middle of casting Immo. But I`ll try sending in the pet and wait until he makes his first taunt.

Re: Silly Voidwalker
As a side comment, can someone explain to me why your immolate cast gets broken if you lose sight of the mob while casting the spell? I'm asking because on the other hand, your SB cast is not broken should the same thing happen (you just have to regai LoS when the SB is launched).

Yes it does, you need to keep the mob infront of you when doing SB, it's simple enough just keep your right mouse button pressed down and spin on the spot, i don't see a problem. |

Re: Silly Voidwalker
Immolate does seem more sensitive to LOS issues than any of my other spells. OTOH I find it realitively easy to rotate as I cast as needed. UA I've found can be cast without facing the target which is nice.
As an Affliction lock I find myself not using Immolate much as I am constantly on the run. I use it for opening on caster styles mobs who get my all my fast dots before I start the SB spam (imm, COT, ua, corruption, sb*n) |

Re: Silly Voidwalker
I may be wrong but having 100 days played as a warlock, I'm almost positive that you're allowed to lose sight of your mob during SB cast time (after initial acquisition) without that interrupting your cast. Of course, you need to reacquire LoS before the end of the cast time. In my experience, on the other hand you have to keep LoS throughout casting immolate (not just at the start and end of the casting).
I can't play right now but I will certainly check next time I'm IG. Last edited by cdubaldo; May 29, 2007 at 08:15 AM.. |

Also, yes, spinning by holding down the right mouse button works very nicely for keeping a target in range, and remember: With most all affliction spells you cast, you don't have to be facing your target, and if it's an instant cast spell you can use it on the move as well. |

Re: Silly Voidwalker
One thing i've noticed with the voidwalker is that occasionally when he first grabs aggro there is a little catch-22 type loop. The voidwalker pulls aggro and the mob adjusts position to meet the VW. Then the VW adjusts position on the mob. Now, since the VW has moved, the mob repositions. Once the mob moves, the VW repositions again. This continues a few times untill they settle into a spot, usually a fair distance from where the VW engaged.
As was said already, i generally only have this problem if I pull a mob and expect my VW to grab it while it moves to me. |

Re: Silly Voidwalker
Even instant SB/Incenerate (on nightfall or backlash procs) require that you have the mob in LoS. But yes, you can cast agony/insta corruption and the like while running away from the mob. Sorry for derailing the topic.
