Pets and spell penetration

Does anyone know if pets receive a bonus from spell penetration gear?

For example, does my spell penetration affect my imp's firebolt spell?

Re: Pets and spell penetration

As far as I know, the only stats that give benefit to your pet are stamina, intellect, and spell damage (maybe spirit does too? I've never checked). I'm pretty sure hit/crit/spell pen give no bonus to your pet.

Re: Pets and spell penetration

Hover the mouse over your stats in the character screen. The ones affecting your pet will state how much benefit they're giving.

Re: Pets and spell penetration

Pet's stats do scale.

The stats are actually Stamina, Intellect, Armor and "Damage".

From what I have observed (MIGHT be wrong, but checked with different pets, gear and buffs but only for level 70):

For Stamina and Intellect the pet gets a bonus of 30% of what you have in total. It's 35% for armor. You should reconsider Demon Armor for pet tanking because of this.

Spell damage gets translated to both, pet's spell damage and melee damage.
Of your highest damage class (fire/shadow) you get 15% of spell damage for you pet and 57% of the value as attack power.

The crit rate is calculated on the pets stats, so we can only buff spell crit using +Int items, not the melee crit - that's only demonic tactics we have.

I don't know if this information is in the "knowledge base" parts of this site, I sure think it would make a lot of sense for reference.

Re: Pets and spell penetration

As far as i know Spell penetration does not carry over to your pet.

Spell penetration is very much a pvp ability as not many mobs have a natural resist to magics. Most likely they are immune to the damage instead and therefore wont help.

The only not int/stam/spell damage stat that carries to your pet is resistance, your pet gains an amount of yours to allow its uses it more fights than before.

Re: Pets and spell penetration

Thanks Mistrust, I forgot Resistance in my post, it's 40% of your resistance BEFORE you get resistance buffs from you pet (Felhunter/Felguard) that you give to your pet.

Re: Pets and spell penetration

Unfortunately for me, I think you guys are right. I was hoping that by putting lots of spell penetration on my gear I could decrease the chance of my felhunter's spell lock to be resisted in the arenas. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the responses!
