which pet has highest 1 on 1 dmg potential
I am interested in knowing if your demon spec and you choose abilities to enhance each specific pet which pet can do the most damage to a single target. (this assumes that a tank has agro and your pet can just wail away).
Would a sucubus do more with imp suc and imp lash? Would an Imp, with imp imp and imp firebolt? Or would a felguard? This is assuming you are using the same damage enhancing talents for each build appart from the specific ones required to enhance each pet. I just want to save a load of gold in respecs to find it out...does anyone know...have you tested?? my aim is to find the best pet to do the most damage in instances to the Skull target. (yes i know its about more than that, but this is what i want to know) Thanks in advance |

Re: which pet has highest 1 on 1 dmg potential
Pwndzorr,
In answer atleast in my experience for just pet power i would go with Felguard his DPS matches the Succy and with Cleave and frenzy he really shines. For overall warlock output (you and pet) I think it would be Succy (skip the imp succy though) between her being able to LoP and Kiss and your +15% damage increase from DM you can put out some pretty decent numbers. However the 10% from FG and the added benifit of having an off tank in case of emergency that takes more than 2 shots to kill makes succy kind of hard to pull out on most occasions. Unfortunatally i dont have much experience with the chain-gun Imp. I only use him when i am going to be fearing something because he can keep dps on target better than both FG and Succy havin to try to run something down. |

[You] <- [Mob] <- [Succubus]
[You] -> [Mob] -> [Felguard] Ah! 5 years of art education do pay off. What I'm trying to say is, while on paper it's succubus all the way, you might also think that while barely inferior the Felguard still has more uses than the succy for tanking and sparing you pain. Somewhere out there there must be a felguard user with full fel concentration, too. Last edited by xdiesp; June 16, 2007 at 08:00 AM.. |

Agree with Ltonkrack..
FG did more damage for me too...+ the tanking /anguish/intercept/daze... so i would say FG. Wolf |

Re: which pet has highest 1 on 1 dmg potential
If I'm not wrong, the imp is best until it runs out of mana, which depends on how fast each mob drops. Usually... not very long. With imp imp and imp firebolt, it really packs a punch. But he can only punch once lol.
I would expect the imp succubus with imp lash to edge out a felguard cleaving with frenzy. The difference is small though. For all intents and purposes, the felguard would be our most consistent, hard hitting pet that is also survivable. Its supposed to be our super all round tank. One weakness is cleave might hit another target and pull unnecessary aggro or break some CC. His dps also takes some time to build up with frenzy especially. Also, if its allowed to cleave 2 targets, then it will do more damage than the succubus. My rating scale as I can't give you exact figures for single target pet DPS. Imp 10/10 until mana runs out Felhunter 7/10 Succubus 9/10 Felguard 8.5-9/10 Voidwalker 5/10 I would expect my 41 talent point to be better than the other pets. And that it certainly is. But comparing just on single target dps, its not the best but its very very close. So close that with everything else its got going for it, its just wasted not to use him. If you're in an instance fighting mobs with a very high DPS party (ie mobs die in under 10s), you might do well with an imp out and life tapping to regen his mana with mana feed. Then swop out for bossfights to a felguard/succubus. Its just not very practical for most situations. |

Re: which pet has highest 1 on 1 dmg potential
I've yet to recieve my Felguard but I do know this much.
The pet's all have their usefulness in alot of cases but some cases you can't use some pets. For instance. The Imp does good damage and it's pretty constant, but it's rather fragile and you can out-damage it quickly drawing aggro. It's useful for parties mostly or farming low things for a quick Soul Shard. It's shield is pretty useful sometimes but again, it's not very practical unless it's pvp in which case it's long range and fast shots can be useful. The Voidwalker is purely useful only in PVE. You'll rarely gain aggro with it. It's defense is the best of them all but it's attack leaves alot to be desired. It's self heal also means it'll last alot longer without having to health funnel. In PVP this pet is nigh on useless except for the shield. The Succubus. This pet has a real high dps output but is really fragile dying real fast but if you're careful it can live. The ability to charm people is really useful in pvp, but I'd keep her as a quick attacker. Just make sure to keep HEalth funnel handy. The Felhunter. This pet is purely to be used against caster. It's dps is low, and it's defense is rather low. It's ability to spell lock, and reduce melee damage is a bit handy but it's not very practical in most things outside of certain casting mobs and pvp against mages and priests. I call it my Bubble eater because of it's ability to eat bubble from priests and Paladins (The health it gains from that is pretty nice also.) The Felguard. This pet is purely a tank. It's got a wide assortment of attacks, is fast, has great defense. It's the most useful for pvp or pve. It does, however, suffer from less defense then your Voidwalker, and isn't AS fast as the Succubus, but it's usefulness and ability to live makes up for this. It's basically like the Voidwalker and Succubus had a child together. I can't specifically say this is always true, but it does matter on where you are fighting at the time. If I had to go with anything for PVE I'd go Felguard all the way. Only if there are the possibility of too many adds would I pull the Voidwalker out. Succubus would be useful for PVE and PVP mostly, but only against Humanoid targets. Just my two copper. |
