My felguard tanked Durn the Hungerer

I was helping my guild mate(69 paladin) and other three people(66 mage/warlock/rogue) on the quest to kill Durn. We first tried the kite-to-NPC method as we couldn't find a tank, only to die enough times to realize that we couldn't make it work.

Then my guild mate came up with this idea -- to let my felguard tank. We had no choice, this was after several wipes and not finding any tank (or healer) for half an hour. I did not think it would work......and I was WRONG. My guild mate did an excellent job keeping my FG (and me) alive without pulling aggro, while I kept my health funnel on all the time and put up occasional dots. The 66 mage pulled aggro once at about 15%HP left, was instantly killed, but Durn was then down'ed in like 10 seconds so it was fine. For this fight I only had to pop one healthstone and lifetap a few times to restore my felguard's mana.

Needless to say, I was totally amazed by my FG's ability to hold aggro which I had certainly underestimated. My guild mate then told me he had experience in healing felguards in several instance runs with a felguard out as the main tank (due to not being able to find a proper player tank). And, oh man...

Looks like he knows more about the felguard than I do.

On a side note, my HP is a little over 10K and my shadow damage is only about 800.

WOW! I never knew that the felguard was that good of a tank! I had my VW tank ZF once...never again would I suggest having my pet be main tank. Hem, well I'll have to give it a try some time. I've soloed elites with the felguard before, and my only problem is that even though I have improved health funnel, he takes more damage then I can heal

well, your FG is 70. durn is something like 66? so durn is going to have quite a bit of a miss rate i think.

well done on downing him with an FG tanking though.

Gailton: the pet might be able to hold aggro, but it surely can't sustain that much damage for long without a healer around.

Most probably, even better with a VW.

I did the same, but went to that camp fear and enslaved a 68 or 69 elite to tank. Much more hp.
