Inferno summon - is it worth it?
Inferno summon - is it worth it?
The quest reads like this: Infernal Stone Summons a meteor from the Twisting Nether, causing 200 Fire damage and stunning all enemy targets in the area for 2 sec. An Infernal rises from the crater, under the command of the caster for 5 min. Once control is lost, the Infernal must be Enslaved to maintain control. Can only be used outdoors. Re: Inferno summon - is it worth it?
Short answer: no.
Long answer: the quest to get the infernal is fun and varied; you get a new toy to play with; the infernal also has some extremely limited use in PVP to stun multiple flag defenders; but all considered, you might never use it for a real purpose other than showing off; still, I used it much more often than the doomguard. |

Re: Inferno summon - is it worth it?
In most cases...no. But the quest chain is fairly easy and you get some decent xp so I would recommend doing it. The infernal is a fun pet to play around with. I have had mine break a horde turtle in AV that was holding up our offense. Also a fun trick I do when running friends through ZF when we get to the stairs, is to stand off to the side on the bottom and drop an infernal on all the trolls as they spawn. His immolation aura holds them while I start throwing my seeds out into the group
. Fun stuff. |

Re: Inferno summon - is it worth it?
Is it worth it? Generally, no. Aside from specific circumstances like Aderia's, you'll find that it's not very practical most of the time, especially with it's 1 hour cool down. Of course, practicality aside, it's probably one of the most fun warlock spells. Summoning one in Goldshire, letting it loose, watching it kill all the guards and lowbies, priceless.

Re: Inferno summon - is it worth it?
Agree with Wabbo about the fun in Goldshire, but it does have its uses. I used it on the main baddie in Andorhal square and it worked a treat - the infernal died, but it inflicted enough damage that I was able to finish it off relatively easily (obviously this was some time ago now!)

Re: Inferno summon - is it worth it?
I just wanted to point out that for everybody that's non demon specced, the infernal is the shortest cast time. All other pets are 10 sec, infernal is 2 or 3? I use it for those times when I get killed by horde while questing.. OK a-hole, you want to camp my body? <rez> Ok, here's a huge flaming dude to play with while I dot you all to hell.
Infernal persists after you die, doesn't it? You could drop one as you're about to die so they have your dots working on them and flaming dude chasing.. then pop your ss rez? |

Re: Inferno summon - is it worth it?
The problem is the cooldown is 60 minutes :(
I found myself that is VERY usefull in BG in large battles so use it there wisely: it can turn the tights of a large battle for a flag for example in the eye of storm or a big fight over a grave in AV. Try to cast the meteor on a large grup of casters to interupt and stun them. To be fully usefull: 1) Be demon spec, at least have demonic sacrifice. Also soul link works now with enslaved demons ! 2) Sacrifice you demon to have the buff from demonic sacrifice(mana or stamina regeneration, more shadow damage). The mana regen is slow and crap, it is better to lifetap, so do not sacrifice the felhunter. 3) Cast the meteor over a big grup of enemies. They will all be stunned. Nuke or dot whatever you can. 4) Do not cast it if you are close to death or if you are focused by several enemies, it will be consumed for nothing. 5) They will atack him, it has a good psicho efect ! Be prepared to keep him alive...He doesn't do to much damage after the stun(but it does decent damage and it's aura is a mini aoe) but he can resist if he is suported by you. |

Re: Inferno summon - is it worth it?
he is definitely not worth it if you look at it in terms of how useful he is. however, if you like to have FUN, then you should get the infernal. i remember many a scream of "ZOMG HUGE FIERY DUDE IN XR!" ah, the memories...
