Do your pets bennifit from your spell damage?

yes. hover over your spell damage in teh charactor tab and it will say something like "your shadow damage increases your pets attack power by xxx and increases spell damage by xxx"

I believe its based on whatever school you have the most +damage in.

Yes, in the character viewer mouse-over your spell damage and it will tell you how much your pet's attack power and spell damage are increased.

Different pets are affected by different damage. Your imps spell damage is based on you +fire damage. Your Felguard is based on you +shadow damage.
