Re: Losing Pets
Interesting. I've had that happen to me a few times over the last few days. Usually it's when I zone or hearth somewhere. I remember once when I hearthed to Shatt, when I zoned into a instance and once when I zoned out of a different instance. It happened a few more times, but I can't remember the circumstances. Basically, when I get a load screen, it has a 4% chance to proc...
It was especially annoying because when it happened during the zone out of an instance, I know I had the minion before hand because we were going to get some Alliance that were waiting for us. Sooo, I think it may be an isolated, but an interesting bug that will surface soon and hopefully get fixed. Other than that, Baalzimon is correct. If they fall to far behind, you can lose them, even when running. I've lost them running in pretty much a straight line in the Barrens. Depends on the lag to the server. ![]() Last edited by Argusi; October 16, 2007 at 04:03 PM.. |

Re: Losing Pets
Interesting responses. I expected I was doing something wrong, like not waiting up for them when running--which I actually have started doing because I lose my pets OFTEN. The succubus off the zep really ticked me off tho because I had her in a nice safe spot--no chance of falling off or seeing something interesting and wandering off to check it out.
I've lost pets so many times--about 30-40 times now since I have acquired them. I shall keep a better eye on them. ;) |

Re: Losing Pets
I guess i'm stingie with shards lol if i want to change pets & have time & space i just put em on stay & run. i used to mount & ride away but with the despawn on mount that stopped that lol
Some have complained about the despawn on mount (mainly hunters) but i have lost a pet so many, many times with it getting stuck while i'm riding that i am glad of the change. it became ludicrous when i got my flying mount cause if you flew up high the pet would despawn & when you landed you would have to resummon this made it a bit hard to gank someone hehe. I was in shadowmoon valley & had to fly above the road so he could follow to where i wanted to gank this dude. |

Re: Losing Pets
I have an puzzling situation with pets also, I have 2 locks, my main on Darenor PVE (eur), and I rolled another on Al'Akir PVP (eur). I have no issues at all on my Draenor lock, but on my Al'Akir lock the pet moves slower than me all the time. If I run in a straight line with no objects to navigate I still outrun it then it despawns (on all pets).
This never happens on my main lock, never has done. Anybody have any ideas why? |

Re: Losing Pets
I know this thread is old, but is this a bug that needs fixing? I lose my pet on the boats about 75% of the time. I've stood next to another Lock and his pet was still there after the screen load and mine was gone. I've been trying a few things, and so far all that's seemed to work is having the pet stay on the dock, run up to the wheel of the boat (the minion will automatically come on the boat at the ledge, but stay.) I've done this 4 times and I've kept the pet all 4 times. Just seems glichy.

Re: Losing Pets
Losing a pet on zep/boat is a bug - it's not that you are out of range. I tested getting on the boat petless; summoning a pet and then losing the pet that was standing right next to me after the map transition was done. It happened every time no matter where I was in proximity to the pet.
