Felguards, horrible?
I was on this other forum and talking about how I prefer Demo spec, this guy said that pure demo spec past 60 was horrible and the felguard was unbelievably weak 61 and beyond. He also said these were made by warlocks of his server.
So I decided to ask somewhere to confirm or deny this. So lategame Felguards useless or not? |

Re: Felguards, horrible?
While I personally didn't really like him that much, I wouldn't say useless. If anything else but for the tons of felguards I see around on 70s. Most likely the comment came from someone that didn't have the right points taken to make the felguard "useful"
just my thoughts though. |

Re: Felguards, horrible?
Please do at least read some threads here about PvE (Raid) and PvP uses.
The FG is excellent for farming, this is undisputed. While it is not a great 2vs2 Arena spec unless you are exceptionally skilled it is at least a great Battleground spec. Also, we have very succesful FG raiders on this board. Reason? All pets scale. That means you get more damage of YOUR damage. Same with Stamina, Intellect, Armor and also your resistances. The pet can be buffed and will increase your damage even more... Etc. pp. It is a indeed more challenging to play with your Felguard though. |

Re: Felguards, horrible?
They have their uses, main one being used against a rogue. I personally dont like them anymore and rather roll with a felhunter. I think what you might be hearing is the older players that had the felguard when it first came out and it was -overpowered- since it would literally solo classes but now they've toned it down quite a bit. Farming i dislike them because they dont scale as well and I could easily drain tank a mob better as affliction but like I said thats just me.

Re: Felguards, horrible?
saying felguard sucks is this seasons new version of "warlocks are easy mode" or "destro is broken" or "fear is OP" its a idiotic comment made normally by people who have no idea to play a demo warlock, and often dont even have a warlock at all.
in short no, great for grinding, very decent for pvp. and perfectly viable in any tier raid with the correct gear/skill at using it. the guy you where chatting too needs to l2play. Last edited by Xaos; January 06, 2008 at 03:33 PM.. |

In alot of ways, Demo and Afflic are like Ford and Chevy. There are those that like one and not the other and you will never convince them otherwise. For leveling and grinding, the FG is amazing. Things die so quick its not funny and there is absolutely no downtime. For instance and raiding, affliction is more forgiving, but Demo is just as viable as long as you don't mind micro-managing the pet. |

Re: Felguards, horrible?
I switched to FG @ 58 and I LOVE it. Things die... so fast. And I made that decision after reading many posts on the boards here. So check out some more posts, there's plenty of info. But as said by others, FG is great for grinding and there are those who choose to raid with FG and do very well. The person behind the keyboard might hold a spec back more than the spec itself

Re: Felguards, horrible?
I love playing with my FG - it means you can take on groups of creatures and as dont get hit with spell interrupts, as long as the FG keeps the aggro, and they are not normally alive long enough for you to worry about that either!!!
I respecced from destro when I was early 50s, made sure I got all the grimoires as soon as they were available to me, and it is still like wandering around with my own personal tank - intercept is great! Oh, and I take it to Kara with me - only once have I been asked to summon the imp in there |

Re: Felguards, horrible?
I have a felguard and I scale very high on the dps range. In battlegrounds I usually just let him loose in big crowds keeping intercept on user control so that when anyone attacks me I can stun them. The felguard does have many uses other pets don't have. The felguard does take some skill to completely master though.

Re: Felguards, horrible?
one of the above posters talked about skilled with a felguard. I always thought it was easier with one. You have the time to do you're spells and don't have to watch out (non pvp) for attacks. I love my felguard alot, but im thinking of leaving him behind for a while to try out affliction. Im thinking about this for a month.. till now i still have my jeroentje (as i cal him). But maybe its a bit weaker than original implanted, i still think its strong and is doing alot of damage!
