Re: DoomGuard with CoD

I decided to get my first Doomguard yesterday. Just went outside Shatt and killed the Basilisks by the lake. I'm not sure if CoD would kill one on its own so threw Corrpution then CoD then just feared it for the duration. Got one after three kills then tried to take it into WSG as I didn't know they vanish if you portal anywhere. Went and got another (5 kills this time) and used it to kill a few things. I'm not very impressed by it tbh. Considering it's meant to be our strongest pet it doesn't do very high damage, and it's not as tall as I thought it would be - I wanted something as big as a house. Maybe the summoned DG is more impressive but at the minute I'd say the Felguard is a much more impressive beast. Saying that, my one big wish for the xpac is that Infernals and Doomguards are adjusted to be permanently under our control. I don't see why they need to have a limited enslave time - they don't do any more damage than a Hunter's pet (I've been killed by a ravager on its own).

Re: DoomGuard with CoD

isn't the summoned doomguard weaker than the one you get true CoD?
I never had one but reading all this makes me want to get one soon. I'll try this weekend

Re: DoomGuard with CoD

doomguard is doomguard. Its a lovely looking, fun to horseride demony person ( demons are people to :P )
No diff between a summoned one and one that spawned from the corpse of a dying target.

He looks more impressive then the felguard, but sucks for fights.
Another fun part is, that if you mount up ( works with any enslaved demon ) even when you mount up onto a flying mount, they stay out and follow you and keep with you as fast as ya go.
Yesterday i enslaved a level 65 doomy kinda guy ( the green ones where you kill overord in outland, north-like from honou hold )
Stepped up to a flying mount, and fel away, noticed it still following me, AND getting attacked by trash i flew over .
Thus of course, curious me hung over some trash, to see the demon get killed by lotsa mobs, wish i could seed from the skies

Thats one of the reasons that your minion now despawns when you mount up. They used to stay out all the time.

As for the doomguard, I had 2 proc back to back on a 3 badge heroic mech run one day. on the 2 mini-bosses that used to drop badges.

I should just do the quest to pick him up, but I can not imagine ever summoning him.

Re: DoomGuard with CoD

nah, i was just having fun with it.
Also was very nice to see all demons that are enslaved running alongside ( or below you ) and getting aggro when running around. Saves you fighting em when enslave breaks. ( was why i tried )
Only with enslaved ones tough.

Re: DoomGuard with CoD

chances arent that high indeed that it spawns.
And you must absolutely make shure that curse of doom is actually the killing blow.
I would suggest you at least take yer time to spawn 1 tough, easy enough, within 10-15 mins ( first 5 tries if yer lucky ) in goldshire.
Pick some of the level 5 or so mobs / wolves / spiders.
Cast corr rank 1 ( must do sme damage or you wont hold they aggro )
Cast CoDooooooom
Fear ( 1 or 2 times. maybe 3 wll do )
wait
wait
minute over ? critter = dead
if yer lucky, that is yer doomie. keep trying till you have one.
I have done it on some evenings, just for the heck of it, and MOST the times, it took me anywhere between 4 and 11 tries.

Re: DoomGuard with CoD

Your typing reminds me of two people, my cousin, and this popular guy on another forum, now inactive.

And the Ritual of Doom is supposedly soloable at 60. I was at the one part that would determine how soloable it was, but I didn't get a chance to finish it.

And I say grab a grey dagger from a defias, hit a couple of times with CoD on, and go from there. Or, if horde, try to get proc while following the idea I just put in my sig.

And a bit of info about DG-FG, in lore, they are the same, DG are just smarter, same physical appearance, The Doom ones are smarter and are the air force, not as common as the cookie cutter soldier The Fel, but still seem in endless numbers during invasions.

Re: DoomGuard with CoD

havent got one personally from CoD, a raid member got one off the lucifron first kill though...

that thing nearly wiped us :/

how do you guys keep a ritualed doomguard under control? mine break within 30 seconds, even with CoS on them...

ritual of doom chain was indeed solo-able at 60

btw soulbourne: "Imagine: Two full raids, 80 level 70 warlocks, going to all four alliance capitals. Their objective: Complete annihilation leaving naught but doomguards and infernals in their wake...."

ofc darnassus and exodar wouldn't need more than 5 locks...
