Sac Fel or Sac Succy

Im currently raiding with the Vanilla 0/21/40 spec.

I have seen a couple of locks Saccing Succy and tapping instead of using the Mana regen from Saccing Fel Pup.

I cant see this as efficient as the 15% extra damage will surely be offset with the DPS downtime of Tapping.

I wondered what other peoples opinions are?

BTW i am not interested in trash DPS. I am sure that the 15% extra would be great when you can drink after 3 trash kills but thats not feasible on bosses.

only time i ever sac my felpup is when i had to AoE besides that i saced succy for 15% dps. saccing succy makes 0/21/40 spec visable anyway....

And you dont have mana issues? Does someone have some numbers on how the 15% compares with the DPS downtime of tapping?

Before I was sac'ing the Succy for the dps, however I have noticed increase an increase of atleast 100dps by sac'ing the felpuppy. Depending on the boss I never have to LT and you add Quartz to the mix and your SB are flying like crazy. I keep succy on trash, just incase I need to CC something then on the boss bring out the puppy.
people ask me why I sacrifice the puppy instead of the succy, I say that the more SB's im throwing out there the better chance of ISB to be on the target and the damage meters reflect just that.

The numbers are pretty close over a long fight, assuming that you never need to move. Since nearly every boss fight post Kara requires you to move frequently, sacced Succi wins.

Maths are quite funny about that: if you dont sac, assuming you spend 400 mana per bolt and earn 1600 from life tap, you spend 87% of you time throwing shadowbolt, from 87 to 100 is just... 15% increase. :D
I guess the sacrifice is situational. Whether or not healers are busy, you can prefer the felpup or succy.

i almost always sac succy, mana regen problems are solved by always keeping your manapotion on CD,in any boss fight i can sue fomr 3-5 easily.not to mention a simple renewfrom a friendly priest keeps me up mostly ^^

If you r very lucky, an SP in your raid grp will ensure you very little need to LT. Why not sac succy then?

however there are certain figths where i will NOT sac succy. For example,the eagle fight in za.thats because you can suddenly lose up to half your life in a storm or statics discharge or cyclone and i do not wan to be caught fofguard and dying coz i LT 1-2 times and got hit wihtout any healers being free to heal me.Those fights i sac puppy and try my best not to LT at all
