Why am i having such Dificulties with the FG?? HELP!

i have my talent build different, and i think thats where i am lacking, its like running with just the FG and nothing else, anyone agree?

As said before, it's not normal that your pet dies when fighting one mob at once (until it's an elite one with heavy damage output)
For myself I can count on my fingers the times I used health funnel on my FG, even in raids.

on 60 i suggest this Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
than go lal the way like me...
or take 2 in imp life funel in stead of imp HS...
try making felguard taunt on manual..i used it on tab,but when i respeced to 3/3 that thing which gives 100% life tap mana to pet...
when i got that,all my fg spells are always on active,and he is never off mana...

Deathlook, you can move some talents around to be more effective.

I used FG to level from 55 to 70 and loved him. At 60, I would go with a build like this. Demonic tactics (+5% crit) is only useful if you are shadow bolting (usually when raiding). Remove those 5 points and put them into affliction talents such as 2/2 Soul Siphon, 2/2 Improved Life Tap, and 1/2 Improved Drain Soul and you will be much more effective. Also I found that 3/3 Mana Feed is overkill as you as tend to regenerate enough mana for the FG with just 2/3 Mana Feed, you can put that extra demo point anywhere you want.


You made need to use health funnel on your FG if he is tanking 2-3+ mobs, an elite or mobs more than 3 levels above you, but generally you shouldn't have to regen him for only one mob.


Your gear looks fine for leveling. At 60 and up, the quest rewards will keep you well outfitted until 70. Just be sure to concentrate on picking +damage gear over stam/int gear, since your FG is taking most of the shots.

Agreed - just 2 points in mana feed.
If I am going after a single mob - I lead with Immolate, then have the Felguard intercept the mob when it starts toward me. I follow with Corr and then drain life to the end.
The drain life keeps the Felguard topped off with mana for the next fight.
Every 4-5 fights, I switch in a health funnel instead of drain mana so that I top off the Felguards health.

I normally end up doing single pulls, but I have pulled up to 4 at a time and through a series of DC's and fears have been just fine.

Your build seems a bit Demo heavy but shouldn't be causing your Felguard to die after one pull.

I have been pushing about 650 +spl damage since about level 65 but I have payed very close attention to the netherweave 2/2 set bonuses and other bonuses I could put together.
-- At first I had 2/2 in health funnel but after a few levels I noticed it wasnt very useful so instead I put it into the healthstone. Put your TP's where you need too, by this level you should be pretty good at figuring that part out. Things like Enslave Demon/Master Conjeror/Mana Feed I pray that you are not wasting anything there. Many may argue and say that mana feed is great to give mana to your FG but at what cost?!?!
-- My last advice is to leave your FG's taunt OFF, your FG does enough damage too keep aggro, a 100+ mana to keep that taunt going every 5 seconds is what mana drains your FG. My Cast Sequence is CoS/Corruption/SB, and if you want your FG to keep aggro hit his taunt while you're in the end of your SB cast and your FG should still have aggro =D

1. Intercept should never be on auto.
2. cleave and taunt should always be on auto (if your FG can hold aggro without taunt your not DPSing hard enough).
3. Yes you will want at least one (maybe 2) points in mana feed. Otherwise your FG will be constantly OOM. It is worth the point or 2.
4. As others have said Curse of Agony->intercept->corruption->immolate->tap->drain life.

This is the cast sequence I still use for single mobs at 70. I health funnel as needed. The FG will take pretty significant damage from some mobs. At times his damage mitigation seems to be somewhat poor, he will die to some mobs without help.

The FG is a little like a cross between your succy and big blue. Remember that and act accordingly and you should be fine.

your shadow damage is way low for a 60 also. your felguard gets more dps from your spell damage. you should have around 400 at 60. At least outland will fix that for you quickly. Remember stat priority is spell damage then stamina until you hit 70. Nothing else really matters much. Get a hold of netherweave armor when you can.

Update, Well i Re-spected last night and man what a difference, now that i have full power on my afflic spells the Felguard is tearing it up, i didn't do much with him but i took him out for a spin on the Orks in hellfire near the Horde outpost and he preformed very well. I think the ke was having the right spec now. I do agree though that i have low +spell damage gear i am trying to fix that with the drops in outlands. So far though i have had only 2 drops, it has not been a luctritive as i was lead to belive. All i really get is silver and cloth. Anyone know where the best place to farm for better gear in the outlands for a 60 level lock is? Or should just doing the quests is the way? Thanks again for all the help on getting this fixed, i figured it was something i specked wrong.

um...do the quests man. you'll be geared really well in a couple hours. you get a staff, wand, hat and i think a robe in the first 10 quests i think. and there is a nice staff from ramparts too. don't buy any gear from the AH in outland with the exception of netherweave gear. and only get the normal netherweave, the imbued netherweave gear is crap. you will also get a robe from a quest in hellfire that will last you till 68. you can also do a quest quite early in hellfire that gives you a 80 damage staff. it's called totemic staff i think.
