Imp for PvP?
I was playing in Battlegrounds the other day and saw 2 locks who had their imp out. Now I have been using my puppy since i respec from FG to SL/SL build. Which I must say is pretty nice but I am wanting to respec'd to destruction build for PvP and wanted to know if anybody has used the imp for PvP. If so should I get the talents improved imp and improved firebolt? thx.
I only do Battlegrounds with my lock!! No raiding, no farming, no arenas. |

Re: Imp for PvP?
I was pvping at 38, demo spec(so improved imp), I rarely used anything but imp. Had about a 50dps firebolt. +35stam was nice in wsg. I find it a great pet. Put on agressive, run around letting em auto target and DoT everything in sight refreshing as needed. Run around in circles laughing at melee chasing me. Normally lost as horde in 20-39(both brackets) wsg, but I just killed everything in sight with my personal mage.
Imps a strong dps pet that you can just say: Attack everything on sight, and do nothing else. |

Re: Imp for PvP?
I just respecced to affliction for farming, and am going to do some battlegrounds this weekend again.
Imp is good for 2 things ( except the buffs of course ): Yer near infinite mana ( casting loads of seeds and aoe spells ) sending him into the hazard zones for kills / damage, after a few well aied bolts he will be oom, you just cast another one ( no shards needed ) and can keep doing damage over and over again. When you get oom, get 1 imp, dark pakt him all the way and get a new one to send in. This way you can wear and tear down enemies from a bit of distance, they dont see the imp coming, and for shure wont see you, till they get the first fb on theyr butts. So, yes, it has uses, for aff locks, but all depends on what you like to do. In many cases you may like fell waaay better, or succy even. I just know i am going to miss my fellhunter dearly, but will keep him on pause if my harvesting goes waaay better as aff lock. ) BTW yer profile still shows 65.... |

Re: Imp for PvP?
Is it possible to be a SL/SL build without being 70? Never actually looked but if not I'm assuming it's pretty high up there.
The imp is a high dps pet with several buffs. The only pet that in bg isn't costly to resummon if you have no time to collect shards. Until it goes oom, it attacks and hurts everything, assuming it's on auto attack. It rarely gets targeted first, and...actually, in level 70 bg probably gets taken down faster than in 30-39, but it isn't the most terrifying thing on the battlefield, but quite painful. |

Re: Imp for PvP?
Since imps fire from a distance, and till they are oom, they dont actually get down as fast ( as long as you havent soul linked em )
and even if they do go down, who cares, you just cast a fresh one. |

Re: Imp for PvP?
imo its a neat lil pvp buddy and all, but tbh isnt really the best idea for pvp (imo). Yeah he can sneak up and firebolt and such, BUT with his mana supply you might as well throw rocks. i will say that in a full afflic spec he is a good mana battery so if you find urself safe from danger, but your runnin out of mana a lot then its prob safe to use imp. otherwise i wuldnt suggest it

Re: Imp for PvP?
Hmm, this sounds familiar....pets have higher stealth detection I believe, I've avoided many a rogue that way on two classes. How strong is a rogues stealth at 70? Assuming we face them with our anti-stealth buff, how soon would a lock(non-human) see them? O, I demand cheap instant AoE for locks! Think we're the only caster without one....
Hmm, how to counter....if we escape stun lock, shadowfury stun and fear, then kill? Not sure hp and mitigation of a Desto(or any kind of) lock at 70. |

Re: Imp for PvP?
Sorry buth stealthers use... stealth, not invisibility (like mages, or our beloved Succy). Imp is good as imba mana battery, and for stam buff. As Sl/Sl, use felhunter for shutting down casters, and devour magic on yourself and enemies, or voidwalker for physical damage reduction and emergency shield.
