Pet running around with the mob
I came back playing world of warcraft after 6 month, and i started another warlock with some friends(i'm lv 30 now). I noticed this dangerous thing that i never noticed before: sometimes, when the pet go get a mob that is running to me, it happens that they begin to move in a random direction while they try to find the right position. Once they when at abou 60yd from the position.
Anyone else having this problem? It could be deadly if it happens in an istance [edit] i did a forum search and didn't find a post on this, if there is please redirect me there, thanks ![]() |

Re: Pet running around with the mob
I noticed this too. I am leveling a new lock and it seems ot be my voidwalker who does this the most.
He managed to move too close to a group of mobs and get me killed twice in the ghostlands. I blamed it on lag and my pet and the mob just finding the point where they both should be - however, when they move backwards and to further away than the mob started I really started to wonder. |

They really should disable that on the voidwalker - if anyone is using him to dps then they need some kind of treatment.

Re: Pet running around with the mob
I'm running with a felguard spec atm, and see this issue too. From what I guess the issue is that he attacks from the front or back depending on who has the aggro at the moment.
When he is tanking there usually are no problems, but if I start the attack and he builds up aggro gradually there can be some problems where the mob and demon look like they are hunting each other. I was killing basilisks in B.E.M and they can do a fire breath attack. I got the feeling he actually tried to move to the back when that happened to get away from the damage... |

I imagine the logic check used is whether or not the pet is on target, for determining whether or not to try to position behind the mob. But factors like lag, pathing, range, etc. can cause them to "dance" in a random direction before they finally stop. In most cases it's nothing more than a minor annoyance, but when they dance into a cluster of hostile mobs it can potentially make things interesting. |

If i let my void get targeted first then he behaves much better than if i dot the mob while sending him in. Of course this makes things boring since he moves too slow. Sending him straight onto a mob without pulling it can cause just as many problems as if he starts "dancing" with them. Last edited by Mistrust; March 31, 2008 at 06:18 AM. |

Re: Pet running around with the mob
Hehe, I thought I had lost my mind.
Guess it is a general problem then. |
