Re: pot or sacrifice?

succubus is %15 shadow damage, felhunter is 3% mana.
i'm felguard build, i lifetap and take a pot every once in awhile, but if the fight is very pet unfriendly i just sac my felguard for the damage boost and small mana boost.

Re: pot or sacrifice?

Think you mean sac felhunter since succubus gives +15% shadow damage. You should almost always be saccing succubus.

Anyways if the fight is very stationary or the pressure on the healers is pretty big you should probably chug mana pots.

If there is a lot of dps downtime due to phase changes or repositioning might as well lifetap.

Re: pot or sacrifice?

I almost always sac the succy for +15 shadow damage. But once in a while if the healers are having an especially hard time, I'll sac the fel pup for mana/vw for health (if i'm taking a lot of aoe damage)

Re: pot or sacrifice?

If you are going for maximum dps you would sacrifice the succy for 15% shadow damage AND chain drink super mana pots. Less lifetaps means more time DPSing.

Re: pot or sacrifice?

I went back and forth on this for a bit. What I went with is, sacrifice the Suc. on bosses and Sac the hunter on trash. I don't need to top the meters on trash but usually do anyway.

Re: pot or sacrifice?

SHORT KILL - Succy! - More DPS
LONG KILL - Fel Hunter! - Bit MORE DPS - less downtime on DPSing, No need to tap or drink pot unless its really really long fight which seldom happens, bosses will turn into RAGE which in turn wipes the raid group in 10 seconds.

sample scenario:
tap 3x (cost .5 second each) 1.5 seconds = 1 ISB casted
drink pot 3x (cost 1 second each) for 2 minute period x 5 minutes boss fight = 3 ISB casted (5k damage each = lost 15k damage)

With Fel Hunter Scarificed:
Usually your mana drained after 4-5 minutes (maybe more) continues ISB casting.

uh...you might want to double check your numbers there. life taps cost 1.5s each. using a pot uses no global cooldowns so they cost 0 seconds.

Are you using more than 15% of your time that could be spent shadowbolting instead spent lifetapping (this does not include lifetaps that you do when you are moving due to boss fight mechanics)? Would sacrificing a felhunter reduce this to 0%? If the answer to this both of these questions is "Yes" (which I highly doubt it is), then sacrificing a felhunter is better than a succubus.

In short: sac a succubus.

Re: pot or sacrifice?

There's only one fight in the game where it's more dps to sac a puppy than it is to sac a succy. Patchwerk (0 movement). Every other fight in the game it's more dps to sac a succy and life tap on the move and chain pot.
