Re: felguard....looks a little weak
Mana Feed is not a must. I turn off anguish and he never runs out of mana. Sure, he'll get low, but that's about the time I'm ready for a food/drink/cannibalize break.
Questing with him in Hellfire has been a breeze. |

Re: felguard....looks a little weak
I went for felguard and loved it while fighting lvl60 mobs, after 3 hours in Outlands and lvl63mobs have respec'd. He dies too quick and without the talents in the other trees I couldnt kill before I died.
I now run around with Dest/Ruin and imp and can now take 3 lvl63s down with still 1/2 health. I know everyone has their own views on this but 41 points for a demon who dies so quickly is an expensive price to pay IMHO. Just my little bit, ignore the parts you dont like. ![]() |

Re: felguard....looks a little weak
I think it's mainly a question of stuff. I'm ZG/MC/AQ20 geared and my fg grab 1 level 63 & 2 level 62 at the same time without dying, thanks to imp health tunnel & demoniac resilience.
But I crossed the path of an 60-affli lock who was farming so many mobs at the same time that I know, FG is not the best option for massiv farming. But affli doesn't suit my playstill and I love this badass looking demon. |

Re: felguard....looks a little weak
Felguard is a fun change for a lvling spec.
I primarily used an affliction build for 1-60 but 60+ I've been using a Felguard spec and I love it. I'm wearing a mix of T3, pre patch I was about 650-ish shadow damage. Now at level 65 thanks to Demonic Knowledge and Fel Armor I can hit about 830 self buffed (no consumables) and if buffed correctly in 5 mans I've been able to hit up to 970 shadow when I pop trinkets (again no consumables, just begging for buffs lol). The pet scales beautifully but mana becomes a bit of an issue the more you level because cleave gets more and more expensive. However, when I can blank out for a good minute or so with the pet on aggressive and still get XP it makes my life that much easier. The spec is nice because it scales your +damage as you level and the Felguard is excellent at tagging mobs in those overcrowded areas with cleave and intercept. |

Re: felguard....looks a little weak
I got the felguard for a few days, these are the impressions i got. I think it is (ofc) the best pet a lock can have, and he's really really usefull if you have to fight more than 2 mobs. But i found out that there r not that many occasions when you need such a powerful pet, most of the time you grind 1 or 2 mobs, and if you are in an instance, keeping aggro should be mt and eventually offtank job. So i specched affli, 42/6/13, and got UA with 1 point shadow embrace and impro drain life. I am almost as 'immortal' as with the felguard, got a lot of ways to gain hp if needed, and i do far more damage than with the felguard. most important thing, i never stop to gain mana, health, pet mana or pet health.
So i think that the felguard is good, but really not worth 41 talent points, it should be a regular pet you gain at lv 60. ps 1 more thing, never used vw after lv 35 :P succu is just fine, got a great dps, and can save your life if an ally (or a horde) try to kill you from the back ;P |

Re: felguard....looks a little weak
I'm a one man wrecking crew in BC with my Felguard at 62. I can do most all the quests that requires 2 people because of my felguard.
With demonic knowledge my felguard starts 601 at attack power, going up 5% every hit in battle with demonic frenzy. His armor is sitting at 5425. When I pop my TOEP, the our spell/attack power jump up to 750. (Other poppable trinket is the Vengeance of Illidari which adds 120 vs. 175 of TOEP). With improved health funnel, it takes 180 health from me but heals my felguard for 300 health per second! When I pop my trinket it goes up to 400 per second. That means any boss that does less than 400 DPS I should be able to solo as long as I don't get silenced, feared, etc. I have a tank, dps, and healer (drain life, life siphon, repeat) all in one. What more can you ask for? |

Re: felguard....looks a little weak
I have been using the felguard and I like him. I lvled on an sm/ruin spec and hten went destro at 50 and never changed it. I am a destro lock. I tried this out for lvling as grinding always sucked for me. I have found that if you use him right he is worth the 41 points. You get soul link which helps a great load to survive. I have not had much problem with him being dead all the time. I have had him die on me but thats when i am not paying attention. I can solo 2+ 63s at 61 and have also taken on 2 64s already. He does great at keeping aggro even when I nuke. All in all when I hit 70 I will go back to destro but I am going to stick with him to level. Even in bgs I still get top in killing blows and have the fewest deaths.

Felguard DPS
Hey all,
I'm pondering a switch over to demo from full affliction but I could do with knowing a few details first. I'm level 52, I know that each locks pet is different, but I'm hoping you guys can at least let me know what to expect roughly. I'm particularly interested in: Approximate felguard DPS Approximate Sta and Int values for the critter Again, I know we're all different but a ballpark will do nicely. I'm figuring I'll need the felguard to have ~350 combined sta+int and ~70dps for me not to lose a significant dps amount from my affliction DoTs I dont use a pet to attack in the build so my felguard will be 'replacing' siphon life and UA. My profile is pretty current, certainly no gear changes. |

Re: Felguard DPS
if you want hard info...There is an addon for Titan Panel called PetInfo. it is a mod for one of the earlier patches, but still works fine as long as you have Load out of date addons checked.
It gives your pet level, stam, int, armor, etc, estimated and actual pet dps as well. Compared to most other dps meters readouts ive tried, it reads slightly low, but only by about 2-3%. |
