Do I *need* the Succubus and Felhunter prior to level 40?

Right now I trying to level a chacter to 70 in 5 days. 5x24hrs
I've started a hunter and hit level 20 in 16hrs, but if I hit a snag and see that I cann't make it with a hunter, then I'm going to try a lock instead.
My question is; Do I need the scubby and felhunter before level 40. That way I have a mount and ride out of thermore to do both.(Allaince). Instead of making that long run at level 20

Scrubby? I'll assume you meant Succubus. And no, you don't need any pets before level 40 if you don't want to use them...

A sad way to play a lock though...

Pre-BC content has class quests and can be quite rewarding as a gaming experience, and even more so in learning to play your class and watching your character grow more powerful. I fail to see the fun of getting to level 70 that fast, but if that's the way you like to play the game, be my guest.

At lower levels, I didn't use the felpup as much. Succy tho, she was with me constantly.

I didn't mind running a bit to get the new pets.

I got an advertisement for a lvling guild and the guy claimed to show you how to do it in 5 days> I've played long enough I think I can do it without a guide. Just trying to get the best class and had I thought about not getting FH or Sc till lvl40 would have started a loc

It's not so much the class you play, but knowing which quests to group together that makes it possible to level quickly.

I got them when I was supposed to but if I was levelling again and not planning to PVP along the way then I wouldn't go out of my way to get either pet. You can easily get by with just the Void and Imp. If you're levelling in Kalimdor anyway you might as well get them.

i will give you a word of caution. pick up the quest to get the pets. i was reading somewhere where someone did not get one of the quests and levels later, it was not offered. don't know if this is a glitch that can be fixed, but wanted you to err on the side of caution...

Actually yes, that's a good point. Do a search of this forum in relation to the Felhunter quest - there's a lot of threads from people who are higher level and are unable to complete it...
