Help using the felhunter

I'm new to wow and i'm learning to play as a warlock. right now i am level 48 and am doing Battlegrounds with my friends. i saw a warlock using his felhunter and he was a 46 and he destroyed me every time i saw him.. i kept getting confused or something and couldn't cast a spell.. i read the felhunter page and im not exactly sure how to use the felhunter's spells in combat any help would be appreciated.

Well there's a few ways. You can just set him out on auto attack(beginner's way to do it) and he will use his abilities every cd. What you can do however is to turn off devour magic and spell lock(right click on the icon) and that puts them only on manual activation. From there, you use devour magic to begin to remove the buffs the caster you are fighting has or the debuffs he/she places on you(highly recommended vs a lock). Then as they are casting you should probably place Curse of Tongues on them(unless heavy affliction lock or SP) As they cast you wait and click spell lock towards the end of the spelll. All of this is while you're still casting your own spell mind you since you both function autonomously(i think that's the word)

i have all my talents in affliction so i used curse of agony.. so i can devour magic every 8 seconds.. and to do that i just click a dot they've put on me? and to use spell lock i have to wait till they're casting on me and then i click on it while he's targeted?

You get more benefit from spell lock if you get it while they cast. Otherwise it just silences them for 3 seconds I think whereas if you do it while they are casting it locks them out of that school of magic for 6 seconds. The devour magic will remove a random buff/debuff that is flagged as magic. It wont remove curses.

One thing to make using the utility of your felhunter a bit easier is setting his abilities to manual (as stated above) then making a macro for each of these abilities giving you more fine control over them.

These are very wonderful in battlegrounds. Spell lock a target just as he is casting (or before he finishes his cast) for the most benefit.

Devour magic remove anything that is a "magic". You can remove their buffs (i.e. Fel Armor on a enemy warlock) or debuffs on you or your friends (i.e. Shadow word: Pain). This is also greatly useful on paladins for removing their seals... they hate that

Or priest bubbles. Gotta love a priest not expecting a 4k shadow bolt coming straight through to finish them off.
