Re: Dreadsteed, worth the time and effort?

I would have Agree with my fellow Warlocks and say "Do the quest". I did it in Pre BC Mode. I would also agree that it is one of the best quest chains in the game along with the Onixia quest chain, The staff of the Shifting Sands, and The Pally Mount quest chains and as of late the Wrath Gate quests.

Metaphor dude, metaphor.

We obviously know, choosing a warlock, makes you a warlock. But having the feat of the dreadsteed is just an amazing part and makes you more tune with what warlocks are, and how they do things.
Oh I definitely get that. I guess my underlying point is that a lot of people seem to be making it a larger deal that I think it really is. Sure, it makes for a good right of passage, though is having a right of passage 60 levels into the game a little too late? I dunno.

Still, If somebody does this or not doesn't make much difference to me. All the quest really does is show which Warlocks really care about the class and are attuned to all the mythology that the class is adhered to, from those that play the game for other reasons.

It's a bit like telling somebody who's driving to Vegas that they could take the high way or this really awesome scenic trip that they wouldn't want to miss. Sure, you might believe that but perhaps that person would just rather take the highway as it's the fastest way to get to Vegas and that's all they really care about.

I'm not trying to sound like a stick in the mud, or telling anybody that they're wrong, but this game really holds different interests for everybody. I do believe that the Dreadsteed Quest is not to be missed, even if they buy the mount and hold off on doing it until they're level 80. But I wouldn't be demeaning to anybody that chose not to do it.

I guess it has something to do with people wanting to role play a little.
Makes it feel more.. there...

Do it I did the quest and the fight in diremaul at the end was one of the best bit of it all, worth the very steep price if your leveling the warlock as the main and first char.

What I did was got a friend to ask his guildies who had done the quest if i could borrow the quest items as it saves you most of the gold then you just need the stuff you cant borrow.

also the feat of strength achivement makes it all worth it in the end :P

The summoning ritual is pretty cool and the fights against the Dreadsteed and Lord Hel'nurath are definitely memorable as well.

The quests are expensive and time consuming, but are well worth the effort. The final quest is ranks right up there in coolness factor with the Battle for Undercity and the fun dk starting area quest that buffs you the same way the Battle for UC does.
