I think he's saying -don't- buy the mats. Or at least, the 3 things that add up to 250g.

Another plus to the mount that I hadn't originally thought of:

Doesn't take up an item slot like all the other mounts since it is a spell.

I honestly think the blood elf pally mount is kinda cooler in a way.
I wouldn't duck too low, the horde pally epic mount does look really sweet! The red and gold color scheme just looks so much cooler than the alliance one.

And, yes, the Dreadsteed is worth it The night I got mine still ranks at the top of my "WoW moments!"

Re: Dreadsteed, worth the time and effort?

BTW the only way to keep your mount happy is to regularly feed him alliance . If you kill horde it just makes the mount unhappy and will buck you off

This is why i hate the amount of servers WoW has - I'd like to be able to help out fellow locks trying to do this.

You will ALWAYS be doing long, difficult quest chains in this game - so you should just expect that going in to this. IMHO these types of quests are the memorable ones which make the game enjoyable.

Re: Dreadsteed, worth the time and effort?

I guess you can tell who is an old lock and whose a new lock. If you have a BE lock then you are new. But for those of us who day 1 of WoW made our undead or orc lock we have a special feeling about our dreadsteed. (I know some of you made gnome and human but I hate alliance so not counting them) That first time you get to summon him and you get that feeling of damn Now I am a Badass. I mean some of you newer locks might get the feelign but its not the same. I mean back then there was nothing cooler or sicker looking then the dreadstead. That quest is a bitch and annoying back then specially if you were 1 of the first 60's on your server and it was hard to get groups and to get the mats. But man was it worth it. I was freaking ecstatic about it for days and days. And even today everytime I mount up I know I got the sickest mount in the game. Having had to wrestle it from its demon master and make it my own is so much better than just buying some dumb kodo, wolf, raptor, horse. Though I still say the wolf is a close second.

Re: Dreadsteed, worth the time and effort?

Short Answer - YES

Long Answer - YES, at 70 I think you can 2 and 3 man the instance parts. Just find someone who can do the summon part so you can avoid the $ or do 1-2 days dailies and do it yourself. Plus it saves 1 more bag slot. Oh and did I mention what many others did? It's fricken awesomely cool and mean looking.

Old saying goes, Your not a warlock without one.

If not right away, definitely at some point. It's a MUST have for any warlock. We need to keep the other classes jealous of our awesomeness.

Re: Dreadsteed, worth the time and effort?

Yes, go get it! I just got mine yesterday. There was a good warlock to help me out for the last part so i was saved on last chunk of 250g. Actually 2 of us got Dreadsteed yesterday with same ritual! It feels so damn good when you summon it when you come out and ride you can just go aggro mob around Dire Maul and they cannot catch you because you have Dreadsteed It looks damn good particularly compared to other epic mounts! Good luck with the quest.
