Felguard Mana Issues, Help?

I'm having some trouble with the FG build, I'm generally fine for mana, but my Felguard is constantly on low mana, and usually can't keep aggro.

What strategies should I employ in order to keep the FG's mana topped up?

I'm using a 6/44/11 build, I was wondering if taking the point out of Imp LT and putting it into mana feed would have any affect at all?

EDIT: Argh, browsing multiple boards ftl. This doesn't belong here, should be in talent discussion, my bad.

one point in mana feed should be enough. You should be in group with a shadowpriest to be effective.

Bingo.

I tried 3/3 mana feed and it basically filled up my pets mana with one life tap. Having 1/3 as I do now still leaves my pet low when I give it free rein of all its abilities to use as it pleases, but with a spriest or even pally/shammy buff, it balances out pretty nicely.

Another trick is to simply turn off its abilities and manually use them when you need them. Often the pet will waste mana taunting mobs that are basically dead when your not likely to pull threat or one shadowbolt away from killing it. This will save you a lot of pet mana.

Re: Felguard Mana Issues, Help?

I've settled for 5/45/11, 2 points in mana feed and it seems to fix my problem.

Still, turn off autocast for everything and practice manually fighting- just like practicing with the Felpup.

Re: Felguard Mana Issues, Help?

I respecced to demonology last week. I have one point in mana feed and havent really ran into mana problems with the felguard (heh, his name is Hattom, lol). I find myself low on mana quite often though and life tapping ftw!!

Anyway, turn off his abilities and manually use them. It is good practice for raiding/instances too and it saves tons of mana. Pretty much what the others here have already said. I just feel the need to be involved in conversation

Re: Felguard Mana Issues, Help?

I've been doing a lot of PvP recently, and have found this new FG spec -very- refreshing for my Warlock. It takes a much greater deal of skill in my opinion to both micro manage your Felguard and keep yourself from being too hurt.

A lot of fun.

However, yes, I'll be looking at taking that extra point in Mana Feed out eventually, I just think it's necessary as I learn the micro-management section of the spec.

Re: Felguard Mana Issues, Help?

1/3 is all you need for raiding and pvp (Cleave/Intercept) but if you're doing a lot of solo work I'd recommend 2/3 just so you can leave taunt on autocast and not worry so much about aggro.

Re: Felguard Mana Issues, Help?

Heh, that was my reasoning yeah, I was just finding it a bit tricky having to deal with manual casting of all of the FG's abilities so I'd leave them on Auto-cast which would just drain my mana slowly.

Cheers for all the help folks :D.

Re: Felguard Mana Issues, Help?

I hate to grind/farm without at least 2/3 in Mana Feed. What the point of him having a big axe if he can't swing it!

For Karazhan 1/3 is fine. Also I turn off intercept (and anguish, duh) in raids - tanks don't like it when you stun their targets.
