Re: Your help needed: Imp Profile Page

If you are raiding 40/21 the imp is an ok choice for a pet if you are having trouble keeping your soul linked succi alive. You receive pretty decent +spell damage from the imp being fully buffed (kings, int, fort.. giving about 150-200 +spell damage) and you don't have to worry about him dieing and you losing spell damage. Wouldn't recommend soul linking him

Oh and I don't really think the stats page for unmodified is needed unless its just hp and mana. I don't think any of the other stats are of much use or needed ... maybe it would be cool to have his mana regen rate calculated?

While your buffing for Gruuls lair after you zone in, send your imp up ahead and pull the mobs then zone out, always creates a little excitement

Re: Your help needed: Imp Profile Page

Imp Info:
For me(in pvp i am 5/5/51) he is either an healthbot, an dpser/spell slower.

Tips & Tricks:
Put it out when you expect to fight multiple dpsers with only 1 or 2 casters.
it improves your health, does really nice damage, if you're imp specced, and aswell attacks fast enough to slow heals or other casting spells.

The Instance Imp:
I do not use an imp in instances. ever

The PvP Imp:
As said above I use it mainly vs warriors, rogue's and in other situations where I think that the felpuppy and the succubus will be unusable or will die way to fast.

I drop the imp on passive somewhere in phase shift so he can't be killed, and when I got control of the enemy, or am stunned I let it attack them.
when an healer is around and I see that the healer is casting an heal I'll put CoT on the healer and let the imp attack him to slow the healer.

so main roles for me:
-dpser
-spell "slower"
-healthbuff
-to find out where the enemy hides by sending the imp out, easy to recast and doesn't cost a shard.

Not to be rude, but Akasha did say that you need to explain your post. The only reasons I see for not having an imp out in an instance is: 1) Demonology Walock, using Felguard/Demo Sac. 2) Extra CC needed, Succubus/Felhound. 3) Magical buffs/debuffs that would be nice if eaten, Felhound.

edit: Or, if there is another warlock in the group. (Although the one with Improv. Imp/Affliction should have priority.)

And please, correct me if I am wrong, I'm affliction, so I know only to use my imp for Dark Pact to put less strain on the healer.

and our tanks are good enough geared to do it without an imp in raid situations.

Re: Your help needed: Imp Profile Page

as a fullblooded afflic locke the imp is most of the time a mana battery in the dungeons BGs pvp arena pvp worldly combat and even in duel. The imp is my first choice when it comes to pvp and dungeons. fer Pvp the fire resistance buff +39 is detrimental fer endurance combat, along with the affliction dark pact ability. the only time i ever set the imp to attack is to finish off an opponent that is low health from my dps dots (affliction style dps combat) with the imp dealing the killing blows on the weakened target i get an extra moment to focus dps dot damage on the next victim of my combat style. again i wanna accent that affliction is an endurance specc and the imp is a manually operated minion, rarely do i set him to automatic. the imp is so valuable in BG and when battling a healer class. imp on passive supplpies me with the mana i need to cancel the healing a healer gives. one example of when i put the imp on attack is when i am battling a healer the imp helps to cancel thier health restoiration. many times still i find myself manaless trying to kill a healer. the imp is the solution.

Re: Your help needed: Imp Profile Page

About Fire Shield:

While drain tanking, or even in a group situation, Fire Shield can be useful when there is incoming Fire Damage, for the added fire resistance. Unfortunately, it does not stack with many other buffs. The FR is overridden by Fire Resistance Aura (paladin) and Fire Resistance Totem (shaman). The damage shield can stack with Thorns, but only if Fire Shield is cast prior to Thorns, but cannot be cast after Thorns is already active on the target. I'm not sure if the FR stacks with Mark/Gift of the Wild.

Anyone got an off the top of their head mob (or list of mobs) that are immune to fire and the Imp won't attack?
Anything immune to fire, in general, the imp will not attack. This also includes the Phoenixes in Magister's Terrace, any Infernal, Shaman Fire elementals, etc.

While defending the horde base in AV I occasionally like to stick him right by any of the strategic openings and put him on aggressive. He's like our own backtalking fire totem
