Imp Fire Shield Threat
I didn't see any discussions about this already, so I'll ask now...
I kinda think this is a no-brainer, but hey, maybe I'm wrong... Would you say it's good practice to turn [i]off[i] your Fire Shield autocast while in raid? Since it avoids putting excessive threat on melee or ranged DPS in the event that they pull aggro and begin taking hits. Especially since, with Improved Imp, it raised the damage output to almost 25; which is on par with a Druid's max rank of Thorns. Personally, I've always thought you should only cast it on tanks. And after speaking to some of my Druid friends who do the same thing with Thorns, I'm more convinced that this is correct. Any thoughts? Experiences? Info? |

Re: Imp Fire Shield Threat
first this buff will only occur to your party member so if you in the tank group yes let it on auto-cast if not remove it by the way it stack with thorn from the drood they dont over write each other anymore so it will help your tank threat

Re: Imp Fire Shield Threat
Correct this is a great buff for tanks. Never put this on your dps/healer members as realy this is just a waste of mana. Dpsers die to fast in 25 man raids if they're hit anyways for the extra threat to even become a problem, although that would be the next reason to not do it. They'll love it if you buff them in the bg's with it though.

Re: Imp Fire Shield Threat
anybody wearing armor less than plate and getting aggro when they are not supposed to will die in a raid environment before fire shield can generate extra threat...
id leave it on autocast, you never know when the 30-36 fire resistance will come in use... |

Re: Imp Fire Shield Threat
I agree the damage the shield does is negligible and the resistance is ultimately more useful. I would leave it on autocast. Fact is that in 25 mans, unless your affliction you probably won't have an imp out anyway. If you are affliction then the raid leader will probably put you in the tank group since you'll have imp (although its unnecessary.) For that matter, I bet the TPS the shield does is fairly negligible as well.

Re: Imp Fire Shield Threat
On the subject of fire shield, I do use it as a buff for arena. In 2v2 I have a hectic schedule of preparation. Cast healthstone, start summoning imp, trade hs while summoning, fire shield/detect/UB partner and self, summon voidwalker, cast new healthstone, cast and eq spell stone, cast fel armor, cast shadow ward, sac vw, summon new pet and go.
Granted the fire shield only last 3 minutes but it's another buff to potentially be removed over your good ones and if it doesnt get removed, it's still FR and damage. |

Re: Imp Fire Shield Threat
In arena 3v3, I have found the sac VW tactic to be kinda useless, it just doesn't last long enough. Definitely get the FS tho as it last 3mins.
My opening is summon spellstone (whilst team is entering arena); summon imp (equip stone whilst summonning); summon soul well (team should be their for clicking); buff everyone FS, detect invis and water breath; FA; summon FG; soul link; shadow ward. |
