Non-responsive minions in Dire Maul...

Last night was my third time leading locks through Dire Maul West for the Dreadsteed Quest. They were a 70 orc destruction lock and a 62 affliction. While deactivating the last two pylons, a strange and yet familiar situation developed... we lost control of our pets! The Orc and I were using Felguards while the 62 was using VW. We looked around, and all three of our minions were just standing there....refusing to take orders!
Unfortunately, this phenomenon rears its ugly head EVERY time I run this dungeon; from my initial quest for my own DS weeks ago through last night.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Do you think it's my server (Azjol-Nerub)?
Or mayhap an alien virus cleverly implanted within WOW to deter and distract warlocks from securing the ultimate prize?

Re: Non-responsive minions in Dire Maul...

It could have something to do with the layout of the place. I've noticed pets are becoming increasingly buggy on terrain with each patch. I farm shards while pvp'ing on the basilisks just outside shat and my succy gets bugged on roots, rocks, etc constantly there(and no it's nothing to do with the succy bug because I have invis turned off permanently til blizz fixes it)

Thanks for the response. This may come across the wrong way, but I am glad that Azjol-Nerub is not the only server with minion problems; although I am still somewhat disappointed...

I was really hoping that the "alien virus" conspiracy theory would catch on

Oh well. Keep hope alive.

Yep, happens to me too (and the other locks that come with me). Almost every time I do a Dreadsteed run, always in the last room with the 2 pylons.

Might be the same thing, not sure, but for about the last 2-3 weeks I've been having major pet issues. I run exclusively with the Felhunter. Most of the time I'm in BGs. He gets hung, runs off, de-spawns, all sorts of wild sh*%. Its gettting pretty annoying actually.

Re: Non-responsive minions in Dire Maul...

Great news, guys!
Blizzard has responded...

"After some research it appears the issue you are having may be related to your User Interface (UI). This applies whether you have a custom UI or not. To help resolve this issue we recommend the following steps:

With the game closed please try moving or deleting your WTF, CACHE, and INTERFACE folders out of your World of Warcraft directory. These are temporary cache files that will be recreated by the game the next time you launch. Moving them to the desktop makes it easy to replace them if necessary.

Please also note these folders contain your saved macros and UI addons. By moving or deleting these folders you will also remove any saved preferences, UI addons, or macros you may have added. However, in order for us to troubleshoot the issue we need to remove any modifications to the game and make sure we are diagnosing the default settings."

I have made no modifications up to this point. I shall give their suggestions a try before I make my next run through DM.

I will keep you all apprised.

Re: Non-responsive minions in Dire Maul...

Eh that is possibly the answer to your particular problem, but it isn't an answer to the increasingly buggy warlock pets. Succy can't use invis anymore or she will not attack for you, all your pets getting bugged on terrain constantly, and probably a bunch of others. Blizz needs to stop sitting on their hands and fix it.

Re: Non-responsive minions in Dire Maul...

Update on this... Or, my personal experience, as it were...

Blueberry, Puppy, and Imp, all work fine for me... The only time the Succubus DOESN'T attack for me even if I tell her to, is if I haven't cast soul link. If she has soul link up, she will auto attack anything that does damage to me - as she should since I'm SL/SL. This is especially annoying when I'm kiting mobs, and realize that she's not hitting them... I SL up, and they start dropping like flies.... There needs to be a talent that allows an instant heal of pet rather than a channeled pet heal... A health funnel on steroids if you will... instant cast, on the run, so as long as you have mobs Siphoned, you can keep going without worrying if your pet will die because you pulled one too many mobs that are beating on you.

Oddly enough, every time my pet dies while I'm kiting, I am still at full health or at least higher that 75%... you can't channel Health Funnel through getting beat on most of the time, so it's kinda a worthless spell if you're IN combat. Even if it had a 2 minute cooldown or something, having that instant heal for your pet would be awesome for any situation where using a pet is still necessary.

Blizzard actually made this change with hunter pets last year by turning the channeled healing into an instant heal. They now need to do this with the warlock heal as well.
