Re: So Felhounds will now be useless for detecting stealth?

Quote:
In Wrath of the Lich King, Fel Puppies will no longer have Paranoia. Instead they will gain a shadow bite and fel intellect ability. To detect stealthers, we'll have to rely on our Void Walker's and their "Consume Shadows" ability which will now reveal stealthers to our entire raid/party in range of the VW. This means our VW will have to stand still channeling the same spell every 6 seconds to increase our awareness.

I found this solution an excellent way to break a good pet. Poor puppy. :P
I actually think that the int buff that the felhound gets is good since it adds a reason to have him out in an instance a bit more often, as well as it being more true to the "I will feast on magic!" type thing that they were designed around.... but my voidwalker having an epiphany while sitting down to dinner? What?

Combat Log:
Charmoth gains Consume Shadows
Charmoth gains paranoid delusions
Charmoth eats shadows to comfort the fear of an approaching rogue

Seriously.. I'd tell him to lay off the shadows and quit giving it to my party.

We went from the felhunter just making everyone paranoid(have you really thought about what these things must look like first hand?) to my voidwalker getting high then seeing things while trying to pacify the munchies..

Also, I agree with Twista.
<QQ>I think we should get a new pet/skin change on the pets we have. I would love my voidy to be clad in armor like almost every other voidwalker I've seen in outland. Change the imp's color? Change the felgaurd's weapon/color? Something... But yeah.. we don't need to start that convo again. It's been done far too many times. </QQ>

Well... it's almost the way it works now, though it's not so much a detection system as a "protect master" system! At least, it is if you have your Felguard stationed a slight ways away from you and on defensive. Then when that nasty rogue comes up and cheap shots you, he gets some payback with a felguard stun.

I completely agree. I never, ever use my voidwalker mostly because I don't like the way he looks.

Oo, I wonder if that'll be an option for one of the cosmetic (minor) inscriptions we will get?

Thus far, we know that Druids can use those inscriptions to change their bear form appearance (to that a polar bear), etc. I want one so that I can change the appearance of my demon!

I have always wondered: what happens if you put your felguard on aggressive while standing in a battleground, perhaps guarding a node or something? I understand that he would attack the first person he sees, but what if that person is a stealthed rogue? Would that not stop him from cheap shotting/sapping, thus giving you, the warlock, the upper hand?

I actually use my felguard in bg's on aggressive and he saves my butt from rogues and my bf's butt countless times. Sometimes before the rogue even hits me or right after. So yeah it does work most of the time.

  5. Felguard gets a treat (rogues soul).
Whilst I would love to see this happen I doubt it will with the current devs/game philosophy that blizz has. I have been grinding BGs on both my 70s (warlock & Pally=casters) & its just GOGO MELEE.

Back in the level 60 days opponents would actually fight I used to actively hunt rogues & we had some really epic fights-now its just 1 player takes control of the fight & the other waits for the opportunity to take control or die.
I will admit that we have always owned casters & fear was overpowered. When Elricc was 58 & the felguard came out a friend had a 60 mage that was raiding Naxx (fully epiced/enchated) & i took him apart whilst I was in greens

I was also reading the blizz forums last night & have started to notice more QQ posts on CC in general. I think the game has become far to CC oriented.
Another area is healing (especially druids) that is hugely over powered.
i did Kara on my pally the other night to gear him up in PvE some-he's in PvP rep blues (gemmed but not enchanted) with 2 x vindicators & the S2 healing mace (gemmed & enchanted) @ roughly 1500+ healing & it was sooo boring. My first raid was MC at 60 on my paladin & the overheal meters were displayed very regularly to discourage overheals to prevent healing aggro. Now healers can't help but massively over heal. During 1 boss fight our druid DCed & the priest we had got feared or something & I was easily able to solo heal the main tank & keep an eye on the rest of the raid. i will say that I would have run OOM fairly quickly though-i used around 2 stacks of mana pots that night hehe.
Hmmm I must be getting old-keep looking back

Re: So Felhounds will now be useless for detecting stealth?

Consume shadows currently on live servers is not able to be cast while in combat.

AKA: get used to cheap shots.

(ps. how feasible is this gonna be in a battleground or arena? spam my consume shadows button? horrible change imho.)

I think it'd be more that having CONSUMED the SHADOWS the rogue cannot hide in them.

Re: So Felhounds will now be useless for detecting stealth?

Wow, just when I'd begun to get tired of raiding and started to enjoy PvP (felhunter 90% of the time) Blizz goes and finds a way to convince me give Age of Conan a try.

Rogues already have such a huge advantage over us. Paranoia from the felhunter was one of the few equalizers (and no it didn't really equalize things) that we had. I don't see how a pvp ability like stealth detection is very beneficial from a tanking pet, especially when you both have to stay stationary and channel.

Eh, at least I can enjoy the rest of S4 before they decide to just delete the warlock class all together. Yeah, an over-reaction but this is a terrible move IMO.
