Talking Going to get my Dreadsteed!

Just Dinged 60 got the quest and I am off an running w/ one of my fellow Warlock guildmates! He is an Alchemist so he will supply the needed potions and I got the shards. Unfortunatley, no other lock in our guild has bothered to get their Dreadsteed so I am buying the reuseable mats. I have been designated by the other leveling Warlocks to help them out when their time comes.

We have been asking for help to get the Black Dragonscale from the guild but haven't had any hits yet. The ore is being donated by a Warrior that is a running buddy who gets all his Chants for free from me .

My Lock buddy is low on gold so I am helping him out w/ that too. I like his potions and he's gonna pay more in the end he just doesn't know it

How long does it generally take time wise? Is this a multiple session deal? We normally play for a few hours a night. Is it suggested to we bring a warrior to tank?

I am excited

Re: Going to get my Dreadsteed!

It takes a bit to get to that final stage (where you actually have to use those three mats you buy). You have to run around gathering the supplies, make a trip through the Shadow Hold in Felwood, visit the Alchemists Lab in Scholo (and no you can't cheat and use the one in Shattrath City, I tried), but when you finally do get the quest Xorothian Dreadsteed, you're nearly there.

Make sure that somebody in your party has the Crescent Key. Sure you can kill yourself and rez on the other side of the door, but later on there is another door you need the key for and you cannot get around it by dieing. If you don't have the key, you'll need to run Dire Maul East for it, probably about an hours run if you're all on top of things. If you do the run for the key, enter Dire Maul East on the opposite side as you enter West, and not the southern entrance. You'll find an Imp there, talk to him and chase him through the instance, eventually you'll have to fight him and he'll give the key to you afterward.

If it is your first run through Dire Maul West, expect around two hours or more while you explore and make sure you're on the right course. If your with a team of level 60ish players, prepare for a standard run, bring a tank, healer, and dps with you. I suggest bringing another lock as most of the mobs (trees too) are banishable. If you have a 70, you can probably get through most of this without a typical team with you. I've run people through in under an hour on my 70 lock, but I've done this quest so many times I could do it blindfolded and still get through it quickly. If you're with a 70, expect around an hour or less depending on their class.

While in Dire Maul West, you need to kill all the elementals that surround the 5 pylons. One pylon is just in the courtyard inside the enterance, then you will take the right most path up to the second floor. If you go down a ramp and see a big elite tree, you took the center path, go back up the ramp, turn left (use detect invisibility at all times after this point). Anyways two more pylons are up above, then you can drop down and take that center path through the door behind the elite (remember that Detect Invisibility here too). In the large chamber, you'll find the final two pylons.

Killing the Boss is easy, keep moving to avoid the Eyes, and DPS. Immol'thar is a cool looking boss, I wish we could have him as a pet. If you have a high level skinner have him/her skin the boss, otherwise do your best to kill him off the center platform as he will make it difficult to do the quest until his body fades away. That center platform is where you open the Jee'ves Jar.

If you die during the lock event, run back in, you didn't fail the quest. wait til it ends and then go up into the center. Mobs may still be in it, but as soon as you enter they will vanish. Use this as an opportunity to scare your party members as they'll all expect to be attacked.

After you summon the mount and kill it and the dreadlord, remember to talk to the horse spirit to get your mount. Additionally, if you got the quest between the second and third pylons on the top most level, you'll also need to kill the prince under the stairwell in the library just off the chamber you're in (look for the closed door). its a quick quest so you may as well do it.

Good luck, and Gratz! in advance!

There is a really good section on getting this mount at Dreadsteed - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

Also, you'll notice a link to the den at the bottom of the page

Re: Going to get my Dreadsteed!

When you do the final part, assign one person to maintain the bell book and candle (I think that's what it is)-that person should not attack anything, save for enslaving a felguard if needed. Make sure your party stays in the circle.

While a lot goes on, just chill and focus on your task at hand and stay in the circle. The biggest hassle is the interrupts caused my the imps, but there is no need to go full out dps on them-it's just managing the felguards during the time of the ritual.

I think the worst part of the whole thing is the undead mob section where you need to get some pylons. Completely managable, but some invisible random spawns get annoying.

The link Absalom provided is exactly what I used, it was very good.

That person, maintaining the bell, wheel, and candle, HAS to be the person that has the Lodestone. It sound's to me that it will be you. Keep in mind, that this entire run you should use very few shards as you will need between 12-18 of them at the end. Every time you repair the bell, wheel, and candle, it uses up one soul shard in your bags.

What Jeprs is referring to you'll see just after the second, and before the third, pylons. there are a group of non elite skellys. There are two invisible (detect invisibility! use it often!) ghosts that patrol the path between the pylons, wait til they're away and attack. I always had fun sacrificing my void walker, and using Hellfire to kill them. However if you have no healer, you're better off letting your 70 lock friend use seed of corruption. I suggest sending in both your void walkers then AoEing them down.

The Warlocks Den - Dreadsteed Quest Guide is the guide I used my first time. It is also linked to off the bottom of the link Absalom posted above, as Jeprscrepers said.

Re: Going to get my Dreadsteed!

I think there were a couple videos about the main encounter (not the ones about a level 70 soloing it but the group ones) that might help out a bit before the fight. I'd try hitting Google up and see what you can find.
