Re: Having problems with VW losing Agro
First off if you want to make him keep better aggro, use a few demonologist talents (improved VW)
The way you apply your dots on the mobs already make a lot of difference, direct damage will have higher aggro... so Curse of Agony, Cor, SL and then immolate, lifetap and drain life (or drain soul what gives extra mana if you have a killing blow, don't forget the 10% less threat) You have to let the VW build some aggro, like you would a tank, by applying DOT's first over direct damage, you make sure to be as efficient as possible with aggro vs damage. Use addons like Omen, so you can keep the moment you will get aggro, so you can fear it upfront or drainlife to kill it faster (if you lifetap smartly you can grind for hours without any drinks) hope it helps |

@duckie -> you're the first to say something about the spec. :-)
@OP -> what's your spec? That will make a big difference in the aggro your minions has. I've been demo specced since the beginning and still am. My voidwalker and felguard never had any problems with keeping aggro unless I crit a few times in a row. But than any good tank would even loose aggro at that point ;-) |

Re: Having problems with VW losing Agro
I was full Affliction all the way up leveling. Drain Tanking is the name for what you're trying. Send the VW in & wait until he actually hits the mob before you start casting. It's been a while but around the 30's I think my cast sequence was Curse of Agony, Corr, Siphon Life, Life Tap, Drain Life. If you time it right you pull the mob off the VW so that it drops dead at your feet just as it reaches you. You have full health & mana. Immolate tends to pull aggro as it threat spikes if it crits. One or two life taps before the drain life mean the VW will hold the mob a bit longer. Or just pause for a second or two before you cast Drain Life if your health is too low to Life Tap. Stand at max range, aggro is proximity related. This is a very efficient, safe method of moving through mobs.
