Succubus question

I just finished my Succubus quest on Friday night. Since the servers have been unreliable at best for the last few days, I haven't gotten a lot of quality time with her.

So far what I've seen if she's sub par to both the imp and the voidwalker. She can't tank like the VW, and she doesn't have the firepower of my imp. So I'm not sure what her role is.

Can anyone give me a breakdown of your strats (both grouping and / or soloing) when you use her? Right now I'm disappointed with our relationship, but with your counseling I think she and I can get through this together.

Another thing, I found the Undead Succubus walkthrough in the Quest section really helpful (even minus the screenshots). But I did find a minor error in it. (Maybe things have changed since it was first written.)

Anyway it states the second NPC you need to kill as being in the Wetlands near a wagon. It also states there's a level 25 guard with him. I actually found him immediately to the right once you cross that enormous bridge into the Wetlands. There wasn't any wagon or a guard with him.

Also it should be added that this NPC is in contested lands. I play on PVP 14, and this was a major piece of information to find out.

I was killed when I first fought against him by a Night Elf rogue. :(

The second time I noticed there's a large boulder behind him that you can pull to out of sight of the road. I killed him easily this time. I ran into the rogue again after the fight though. Fortunately Voidwalker Sacrifice, plus fear, plus those nifty insta-dots, equals a dead level 21 rogue. Why I'm sharing this I have no clue, guess you had to be there. I took screenshots of the NPC's location and the out-of-sight pulling spot if anyone would like them.

Anyway back to the original topic, Succubus: Where and how does she bring the pain??

A succubus won't ever tank as well as a Voidwalker, she simply just does not have the HP. Her damage however is quite good, especially considering they changed the way her Lash of Pain works, she no longer needs to be behind the target.

I used her constantly, before I got my Felhunter than is, in my duo with Thor and she did fantastic damage. In a group she can mez adds which can come in really handy, but just remember while she is mezzing one she won't really do anything to other mobs.

She can mez humanoids, and she deals decent damage now that her lash is at any angle. I just got her last night, and haven't tried her. The last ST I used her for even solo play, and I was in darkshire alot. Basically we shared damage and it worked pretty well as things died. Imp can't share the damage as well as she could.

I'll have to see how she is now though, could be totally different, but I assume with the lash of pain updates she should be good in groups. Imps suck unless you just want the buss he gives.

That's right, I forgot she does get those mez abilities later on. I played a little more today, and I think I managed to figure out a successful combination with her solo. I definately see her advantages grouped. Right now I think the VW will be my primary solo pet simply for the damage he can take.

As far as my imp goes, little guy save my life numerous times. The other day some friends and I attempted ShadowFang keep. We made it to Son Of Arugal, and he wiped our healer right off the back. (Juries still out on how he aggro'd the big boy) Anyway everyone went down one by one. Miraculously we got him within an inch of his life before I was the last man standing. While I was running for my life, little guy got the killing blow in on that hairy bastard.

I love the little fella.

Don't try to compare the Succubus to either pet, all three are completely different in what they offer. Succubus does great damage, can mez adds, can bounce agro off herself and can bring you hordes of horny teenage boys following you around like a bad smell. Like to see the Imp pull that trick.

I used to have succubus out all the time before (untill I realised imp regens mana faster) with me tanking and the succubus just helping with a little dps with all her autocasts turned off. That works pretty good.

Also instances is where you will mostly use succubus since CC is very important there and good usage of seduction can help turn a hard fight into an easy one.

The Succubus is by far our weakest Pet. *UNLESS* you need her one skill--Seduction.

The Imp will out-damage her in terms of DPS if you put points in Improved Imp and Improved Firebolt (Improved Imp also helps groups). You can also use a weaker Firebolt to drain less mana--the Imp can generally out-DPS the Succubus in any fight of 30 seconds or less, plus you get the HP.

Lash of Pain is worthless, it does no more damage than an ordinary attack--at least not at high level. Perhaps this is different at the lower levels. At high level, the Succubus hits for 72-75, and can whip for 87 once every 12 seconds. This is not particularly impressive.

She has 30% Damage Reduction and 50% the Voidwalker's hit points. Voidwalker has ~48% Damage Reduction. This number does not seem to scale; if it rises it does so VERY slowly (on the order of one-quarter of 1% per level).

More than any other Pet, the Succubus needs some loving. Save for Seduction or in rare situations where her balance of lower DPS / slightly longer life is directly advantageous, she is not a useful Pet.
