Effective Use of Succubus, Solo and in Groups

Hi folks, new to this page, and I've been browsing a few threads on the Succubus. I have a couple questions on using her effectively in different situations. I just got level 22 last night, and bought the Grimoire of Soothing Kiss, which I assume to be her "mez" spell.

I was trying it out solo last night, and I found that it had rather unwanted results - it seemed to put the focus the attacks of the enemy on me, and I took a lot of damage rather quickly.

What I'm wondering is, what are some of the best strategies for using the Succubus (and her Soothing Kiss) solo, and in groups?

I can see in groups how I would probably use the Soothing Kiss spell to "pull" a mob away from another caster in the group, but I'm not sure how effective that will be.

Thanks for any advice.

Hiya and welcome to The Den!

Soothing kiss is actually more of a lull spell as it increasing the chance that it will attack something else instead of the Succubus. Basically if a mob is hitting the Succubus and you cast that spell, the mob will look for something else to hit, if solo, that something else is you.

Seduction is the Succubus' form of Mez, and while it's great, those who haven't played around much should be aware than while she is mezzing one target she doesn't do a whole lot else. If you're soloing and get an add, thinking she will just mez that one and then continue to help you out... you'll get a suprise lol.

Soothing kiss is great in groups if she starts to get agro and you have a warrior you want to refocus the mobs attention to. At one stage the spell used to effect any casters getting hit, ie if the priest was taking damage, the pet would cast and the mob would jump off the priest. Not sure if this still works.

Soloing it's not the best spell as the mobs attention can only go one other place, and that's to you... ok if you are a + Sta build and have the HP's to tank, but not so much if you can't.

Thanks Akasha, I now understand the difference between Soothing Kiss and Seduction. It sounds like Seduction is more the spell I'm looking for in terms of crowd control, and Soothing Kiss I'll just probably use by turning off autocast and trying to manually protect our DD mage.

Thanks for the input!

The only spell I really used with succubus (before patch) was seduction since I wouldnt even consider the others worth the mana it costs to cast them.

Lash of pain used to be very bad and basically pointless (wow an extra attack for 50 damage... great... when I could just dark pact the mana she used for that extra attack and do 60*5 damage with drain life) This is now better since the last patch so try it and seeif you like it (personally I like the imp too much, phase shift is great^^)

Soothing kiss? right.... since she usually outdamages me and get aggroed all the time.... or not.

Invisiblity.... well this might be usefull just havnt found out how to make proper use of it.

Seduction... CC, even the chance of delaying an enemy from attacking you for a short duration this is worth the mana and then some. This is one of the more vital skills you have for instances where there are non-undead humanoids. (unless you have both an mage+rogue with you that is)

I've been using the Succubus since I got her a few days ago... She can easily outdamage at the start of the fight, so I leave it on. I'm talking about her in solo or groups, this has happend quiet a bit, and she only casts it if she gets aggro. She crits pretty damn often, alot of the time with a crit off the first hit or second and about 1/5th of the hits with lash crit.

In dreadmines last night, I would normally pull one for the group *agony or recklessness* and weakness another for myself, Immo both with corruption and then DD my own. I have about 900 hp at level 24 and so did our warrior, that added with my pet able to take another 350, and I was actually a decent off tank. ; ) Well at least for now.

Wish they would lower the lash down 2 secs from the base, as her dps then would be about where it should be plus a crowd control element.

I did an instance at level 20 sfk, I just had gotten back from the AH and bought alot of stamnina gear, with my imp I had around 1100 hp it really helped because I was a little too low for the instance.

so use it to mes the greatest threat... the rogue, mage, or whatever you deem to be the more dangerous opponent. it isnt a long break, but it can be enough to drop two DoTs and fear them if you specced for the instant cast corruption
