Pet Regen Questions

My first questions are, do your minions regen mana while in combat? Do they regen mana at an increased rate while "out-of-combat"?

How long must your minion be "out-of-combat" before it starts to regen mana? And does forcing him to enter combat then setting him to passive drop the Imp from combat and thus start an "out-of-combat" timer before it may reach an "out-of-combat" status?

Does Phase Shift automatically remove the Imp from combat? if it can even be used if the Imp has aggro?

Thanks.

Your pet restores at under the same conditions that you yourself do. Once you and your pet are out of combat, health and mana will be restored naturally, and will slowly restore mana while in combat, same as you.

Pet Regen Questions

As Krizald the pets do regain health and mana, but as you can't make them sit it's not quiet the same as us. In combat, if they are not using their mana you will be see it go up ever so slowly. Once combat stops and the pet returns to your side it's health and mana increase quite quickly, sometimes I would say faster than myself. As far as I know there are no 5 second rules for pets and combat.

Sending a pet into combat and changing his stance to passive does not change combat timer, it simply puts him on passive so he won't go running off attacking other mobs... think of passive like a sedated pet... nice and calm.

I haven't used Phase Shift yet so not 100% sure if it removes the Imp from combat, but I have been told it's a lot like the Succubus' Soothing Kiss, sends the attention elsewhere.

hijacking the thread...

If I might get in a few licks here... ;)

Question: If I have the Imp on passive, and it phase shifts while I'm in combat, do I still get the benefits of Blood Pact or does he have to be in sync with me for that?

Question: I notice that all the pets have some kind of magical ability. If I am using the pet simply as a mana source, are they all equal? That is, for pets of any given level, is the mana reserve the same? What happens to a pet during battle if it runs out of mana. Does it back out of combat, or move over to my side or something?

Question: I keep reading that you should have the pet on passive to avoid unintended aggro while out wandering. Why? Wouldn't defensive be better? Under what scenario would I prefer my pet to just stand there while some stray mob is beating up on me, even if my intention is just to get away?

Thanks in advance for the answers!

You still have the neinift from bloodpack... it's a short term buff that stay on you for a while, th eonly time that it goes away is when you de summon the imp.

If your using the pet's for a mana battery then your best bet is to take some of the magical stuff off seeing as how they can burn through thier mana kinda fast. For the second part of your question when a pet runs out of mana it will do whatever it can to conutine fighting. For example the VW will still hit the target but won't cast it's agro spell, where as the imp will simply stand there and root ya on. :P

For all intesnive purposes I have found that both passive and defensive are one in the same. The trick is however that when out wandering if something hits you, unless you tell you pet to follow you... it's is going to attack it. Thus far if I know I'm going to be having problems with a mob agro'ing on me but I am simply walking around, I tend to let the pet gain agro then run clicking the follow button a few times a second so that it won't stay and fight the mob.

I hope I was able to hlep oyu out wiht your questions, and if there is anything else I can help you out with please let me know and I'll be more htne happy to answer them for you.

stay safe everyone,
-Sala

You can also just click once to swap your pet back to passive rather than spamming the follow button.

Thanks for the answers Salalorn! I feel like I'm standing on the outside of a gate looking in, learning the rules of the game by watching the people on the other side play it. Actually, that's exactly what's happening. ;)

A follow up question, if I can...

So if the pet is on passive, he will still attack a mob that attacks you, but not a mob that attacks him? Am I reading that correctly?

if the pets on passive it won't really react to anything. all it will do is follow you and stare as you get walloped, until you tell it to attack of course.
