Felguard Talent Levels

I'm just a little bit confused since the patch, instead of training our Demons now they auto train, OK I can live with that saves me time buying Grimoires and summoning different Demons to train them good idea really in some respects.
But I noticed last night while playing that although my Felguard is at level 65 his talents are only at level 2 which seems low compared to the Grimoire training. I still need to check my other demons but I only really use the Felguard so this is the one I am most concerned about.

Is this how it is supposed to be or do they only gain talent levels at cetain game levels??

Most rank 3 spells for the Felguard are at level 68.
