Felguard off-tank in heroics/dungeons

So, post patch - have any of you gone into any heroics and tried to off-tank a mob for a little bit with the Felguard? I am just curious to see how it went (if it did go). Kind of using him as a sort of "CC" briefly.

I know that the VW got a boost, but just want to hear about people using the FG.

Thanks!

I ran Herioc Remparts Tueday and use the Fel Guard to OT. He as pretty useful. Had the healer make sure to let me know if he need help healing him. I mainly let him tank the wolves or the casters. The melee seemed a bit strong for him imo. Since we were training a fresh 70 prot warrior, he worked great to intercept something that the tank didnt pick up on the intial pull or when the healer aggroed a mob.

I tried in SL herioc; the following is represetnative of my exp.

Set Felguard to OT a mob; I took a couple of steps to get in range of primary kill for a corruption, cast it; turned round and pressed heal, found felguard was dead. He took about 2 seconds to die. Sometimes he lasted as many as 5 seconds.

Use VW

One more note... better for you to funnel than for the healer to heal. If talented for it as demonology, when you health funnel, your demon gets 30% physical damage reduction. Throw some dots and health funnel and he'll stay up much longer. If I'm tanking with VW or FG I also use Curse of Weakness, that helps a bunch.

Re: Felguard off-tank in heroics/dungeons

I successfully offtanked heroic shattered halls with my felguard. I had the talent that decreased all damage by 10% (2 points, not 3) and improved health funnel. He could easily solo casters while I was nuking other mobs without having healer healing him, with melees I had to healthfunnel. At some point I even had him offtanking two casters at once.

Best scenario is to give him a mob to beat and aoe others to heal your demon for a substantial amount

I tried the Headless guy yesterday with my FG and even if he took a load of damage, I was able to solo him (HealthFunnel & CoW is your friend). It required a lot of attention through the damage spikes and the stuns during the 2nd phase but it worked.

So I'd give him a 4/5 for tanking.

Re: Felguard off-tank in heroics/dungeons

Few days ago, we were in ZA, and on gauntlet to eagle boss I seeded too early. One elite, attacked me, I intercepted with Felguard and popped Meta. Felguard managed to hold the elite for about 10 seconds without any problems, and then a tank took over.

I have 3/3 Demonic Resilience, but I didn't Funnel, 15% of seed damage was enough to keep him up for such short while.

What curses were you putting down? I did well off-tanking heroic bot with my void, and I found Curse of Tongues and Curse of Weakness worked magic - apply curse, throw a corruption, and ignore until the group gets to him.
