Re: Pet Behavior
The imp thing sounds more like you have him set on passive (the puppy-picture on the right) instead of defensive (the icon next to that).
I for one don't hope they fix this - at least if they do, they should do it by adding a 4th option so we have the best of present and past ![]() |

Re: Pet Behavior
From a raiding perspective, I for one love the change. I have been raiding without a pet (my poor Succubus was always sacrificed for more shadow damage) for so long prior to the patch that having a pet in raid again was not something I was looking forward to – they do have a tendency to get themselves in the wrong spot at the wrong time and need to be managed more that I liked.
However, wallah! Small change by Blizzard and I now have an imp set to defensive that attacks the target I am casting on automagically. I don’t have to worry about telling it to start killing the next target when the first one dies as he changes targets when I do. It’s a wonderful improvement. If you want it like it was before then it is simple: set the pet to passive and enjoy taking the time to be distracted by having to tell it what to do while you are busy casting your own battery of spells, watching out for AoE attacks, watching your threat meter, managing your mana, etc. |

Re: Pet Behavior
You must have talked to a dumb GM then lol, cause it's something they implemented with the patch. If it's really a problem then maybe they need a pure defensive and an agressive defensive

Re: Pet Behavior
Noticed in Slave Pens and in AV that my Felguard and Void both will switch to totems and have noticed several instances of aggro rotation from the void where it switches targets by itself keeping all those around it focused on it (my main is an epic feral tank and was impressed).
Some tweaks to the AI and aggro tables I think for the better... |

Re: Pet Behavior
Here's how I am dealing with the change in respect to the VW:
I always keep him on passive. I have my pet attack and pet passive set on hot keys. (Shift E and Shift R... yes I'm a lefty). I have found that passive and attack cover pretty much all scenarios for the VW for my game play, be it farming or instances. |
