I can confirm that you can cast it on opposite faction NPCs like archers.

Maybe some of the 4 people clicking on it just stopped the times I was trying it. I'll give it another shot and try again.

Ah yes! If one of the channelers stops channeling, the spell interrupts. But no figurine is lost and the spell does not go into cooldown, so you can cast it again immediately.

Re: Doomguard in Battlegrounds

I tried summoning a few times last night in Alterac Valley.

At the start, I figured it would be pretty easy. Everyone standing around tends to click on things anyway to help summon Soul Wells and mage tables. Even with 4 people helping me to summon in the raid, nothing happened and the summoning altar vanished before the timer was done.

Tried a few more times as we were standing around in FW, waiting for the towers to burn before taking down Drek. Again, I had 4 people clicking on it, the altar vanished, but the DG never appeared as my pet.

So it's either really fiddly... or I haven't figured it out yet.

(The Infernal, OTOH, works like a charm. I just wish that he lasted for longer then 1 minute or that his cooldown was a LOT lower.)

Re: Doomguard in Battlegrounds

I just did an Alterac Valley on Misha. I could indeed summon the Doomguard in the AV starting area; he ran behind me when I mounted. He was probably enslaved for 15 minutes; when I looked at that timer I was at the Frostwolf Relief Hut, and it said 9 mins of enslavement remaining, which is probably about right since I stopped to help kill the Horde captain.

I sent him against the horde commander but he died quickly since we had no tank yet and nobody thought to heal him. We won the BG, though.

Edit: I went into the BG with no pet; I had my felguard stay and walked away until I got a shard. Oddly enough, when exiting the BG my felguard had summoned all by himself. Free shard, I guess!

Re: Doomguard in Battlegrounds

I just did the quest yesterday, and entered a WSG. I had some help with the ritual, and out came the demon. And jessssuuuuusssss christ is that thing INSANE.

I was tearing people apart. His Cripple and War Stomp abilites are straight deadly. I went on a rampage, just destroying alliance left and right, until finally I died from an ambush by a priest and a mage.

I'm honestly thinking that he'll help out a lot in my grind to 80. Its pretty easy to keep yourself alive untill CoD ticks with Curse of Exhaustion, so summoning a Doomguard when needed should be pretty easy.

I never really got excited about any of my warlock pets, but this guy just flat out rules.

Re: Doomguard in Battlegrounds

The really nice thing about the Doomguard is that he has been so so so rare in BC. You have people seeing him, not knowing what to do.

First, they just ignore him like other pets, then they realize he is crippling them, critting them for 1.6k, they CAN'T ignore him. By the time they realize they need to treat him seriously, it is all over...

He is great in Zerg situation where you need are doing many vs many PvP like an AV choke pt, or massive node battle.

Re: Doomguard in Battlegrounds

I often go near one of the AV mines, CoDoom an NPC, and then get a Doomguard to play with. Or else I'll summon one in the entrance corridor to AV.

I actually solo'd (not at the same time) two hunters. Who usually tear me apart. I think they were completely panicked by this huge Doomguard tearing them apart.

I still think the cooldown should be only 30 minutes - we are spending 1g per reagent here... and it goes away if we die.
