VoidWalker puts protection shield and disappears all the time

Hi,

I am new to WoW and reached level 45 with my warlock character. In the heat of the battle I wanted to sacrifice my VoidWalker to get a protection field but instead of left-clicking on the Sacrifice button on the VW action bar I might have accidentally right-clicked in setting it on permanently(is such a thing possible?). Now whenever I summon the voidwalker, it appears for around 1-2 seconds, puts a protection shield around me and disappears. I can't see VW's action bar at all. I am out of comabt mode now, I have been trying various things(like the macro shown below) but just losing the Soul Shards :(

Can anyone help me get back my VoidWalker? Doing quests with Succubus either sucks big time or I am too inexperienced to use it properly :D

Macro I tied to see if setting Consume Shadows will unset Sacrifice:
/cast [nopet:Voidwalker] Summon Voidwalker(Summon);
/cast [pet:Voidwalker, nocombat] Consume Shadows
I had to use macro because I no more have access to VW's action bar. Thanks.

Hi, he shouldnt sack himself unless you have aggro already present.
if you are able to summon him without sacrificing him, turn it off in the spell
book in the Demon tab.

Interesting problem. I didn't know you could set VW sacrifice on autocast, but if that's the problem, you need to turn it off before the autocast runs.

Try this:
/cast Summon Voidwalker (Summon);
/petautocastoff Sacrifice

I think that when you run a macro, every valid command is run to completion before anything else happens to you or your pet, so this approach should "beat" the autocast of Sacrifice. (if that's your problem)

I didn't know you could put the VW's sacrifice on autocast either. I'm not sure the macro would work because I don't think "every valid command is run to completion before anything else happens". If there is a block i.e. he is already casting sacrifice then "/petautocastoff" can't run. if I recall correctly his Sacrifice is instant cast and is unaffected by GCD too which would have been some other backdoors to try.

I'd open a ticket.

While it is true that everything is run at once, sometimes these will fail if there is a condition. For example, I can't macro Metamorphosis and then Immolation Aura, as I need to wait a second to actually turn into the demon form before I can cast Immolation Aura. For example:

/cast Metamorphosis
/use 13
/cast Immolation Aura

When I hit that I'll go Meta and activate my Dark Iron Smoking Pipe trinket, but the Immo Aura cast will fail because I need a half second or so to actually turn into the demon before it will work.

Yes - I'm not 100% sure if that macro will work or not. It would fail if the game treats /petautocastoff like a damage spell. I don't know exactly what the rules are, but you can't run two spells with GCDs from one button press.

If it doesn't work, try with just the autocastoff one, and spam it after you cast VW.

Interesting problenm anyway - are there any other effects like this in the game?

have you tried getting rid of your wtf etc folders? as far as I know that also resets pet bars to standard
