Leveling pets

How exactly do you level pets ? Does they level with you ?
And what do they actually get trained in when you read the books, from what I read on the forums people allways only lists the standard spells for the pets.

yeah you can buy the normal spells for them.. with higher ranks per level..

and remember that you only need to buy the higher level book, no need to get them all.

The only class who has to level their pets, are Hunters. Warlock Pets Level with you.

No, buy them as you feel a need for them. But if, say, you skip a few levels and find that you've skipped over a few intermediate fireballs for your imp, for instance, you only have to buy the highest ranked one for which he's eligible.
