Felhunter Vs Imp - Affliction Post Patch

OK so I've just run a quick test on the SW training dummys (yes eradication is still bugged on them but thought I'd give it a try anyway) - On a 1-minute timed test i hit 2990DPS with imp and 2660DPS with felhunter - Spec is 53/0/18 and in both tests i used my trinket at the same point in the rotation.
The glyphs I've used are agony, syphon life and immolate

Does this mean that the felhunter's attacking is still bugged and the imp is still king? Or am i doing something drastically wrong somewhere? I know a 1-minute test isnt fantastically fair in 'scientific accuracy' terms without a true parse to show for it (also some DOTs will not have fully run their course) but I figure It's a good start?

If anyone else has done anything similar in comparing the Imp and Felhunter I'd love to hear your results - also if anyone has come up with a better testing method for the target dummys I'd love to hear it (I know patchwerk is still THE test to use but with a 1-week wait between tests for one person i figure the training dummys have some use) - I'll try to record some WWS parses for the tests on each later when I've got some time

I figure the more people that try the same test method with the same(ish) rotation (SB>Haunt>Imm>UA>Curse of Agony>SL>Corr) as long as our dot uptimes are all similar I imagine it would be more of a fair test? Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

In a naxx spider wing run two days ago, we had a non guildie warlock with us. Normally, I am the only warlock that raids with our guild but this gave me a chance to compare. He was a 0/41/30 built for felguard. I am 0/31/40 built for imp. My imp consistently did about 200 dps more than his felguard. I have seen reports of felguards doing more but we are, apparently, behind the times on Gorgonnash.

Re: Felhunter Vs Imp - Affliction Post Patch

I think you may have misread: im comparing Felhunter (the dog-like magic-eaty thing) (not felguard, the big bashy ugly thing) with the imp (firebolty fishy thing) for affliction not demo/destro ;)

but in response to your post when i was specced FG/Ruin i found that my dps was a wee bit higher with the felguard, but I didnt really do any form of fair testing to come to that conclusion

Re: Felhunter Vs Imp - Affliction Post Patch

I think that the Felhunter will always be lower damage because it's passive buff is a dps upgrade in and of itself (Fel Int). This is worth talenting him out for.

However, if you run with a Divine Spirit priest and a Mage, then you should put away the dog and pull out the imp.

Keep in mind, this is purely a PVE perspective.

For PVP, the Felhunter should definitely be utilized.

Re: Felhunter Vs Imp - Affliction Post Patch

in a very quick test just now, my imp did 160dps while my felpup did 200dps without me attacking.

no pet talents or glyphs, I even had 13% CoE up.

only self buffed, I guess felpups must scale better with raid buffs..?

Re: Felhunter Vs Imp - Affliction Post Patch

I did a 10 man Nax last night and tried all my pets except the void, heres what I found:-

Felhunter: 207dps - Wow Web Stats
Infernal: 955dps - Wow Web Stats
Imp (no Glyph/Talents): 203dps - Wow Web Stats
Doomguard: 607dps - Wow Web Stats
Suc: 273dps - Wow Web Stats

Pretty much what I was expecting after reading the posts over at ej forums, the suc seems to be the highest dps pet outside of the pets with a cd. Clearly a talented/glyph imp will do better.

I also did some testing on my own and came up with numbers very similar to these. Succy was consistently winning among the "normal" pets. I also noticed she had more armor than the felpup, go figure.

So then I guess the final test is the glyphed/talented imp vs. the suc

Re: Felhunter Vs Imp - Affliction Post Patch

I'll be interested to see the results of Fallen's test with the succubus - I've been using the felhunter at the moment and popping the Inferno whenever I can (as near to the end of the fight as I can allow so he's upping my dps by making an appearence but not downing it by having no-pet time toward the end of the fight) and that seems to be a good combination for me......could do with completing the Doomguard quest and trying that out though, for some reason thats was the one thing I never did...
