Voidwalker tanks 3d sarth
Ok I have heard that this has happened and that the health pool on the void walker is amazing. Does anyone no the Strat, equipment and spec to do such a thing. World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums - VW tanks the hardest boss in the game This Idea sounds amazing and will take a lot of practice in pet control. |

Well I have looked at the pictures did a little checking my self and got my Void walker over 65k health. I staked Stamina gear and Stam with all buffs I Was around 29k HP on my own. From what I can tell no one can DPS the boss till after the drakes are dead. The spec is a little different you go meta with health Funnel points and all extra points in Affliction. Void walker Tanks off the big Island so he can avoid waves, but from what I can tell he will not suffer knockbacks. I can see how this could help with 10 man 3d Sarth. Freeing up a tank to gather adds. Still would like to see a fraps. I am going to try to talk my guild into it. |

I am doing the same Chin. I read over all the posts because it looks a little unbelievable to me but in all honesty I dont see why not with a Healthfunnel and a healer the thing can take some major damage. I to want to see a vid but i will try and get a 10m team to go in with me this week and try it for at least 1d that works ill go for two and so on unfortunetly I am not able to Frap anyhting.

Just a reminder for those thinking of attempting this: the warlocks that have attempted this, or just freakishly high feats of VW hitpoints / mitigation are wearing tanking jewelry, tanking gems, and tanking trinkets in addition to high end arena gear. It's not something to be entered into lightly. If you have access to these items or don't mind spending the time and gold to acquire them, I wish you the very best of luck!  I'd love to know how you get on. I'm a voyeur, I think. Hehe...

Nice idea and some what different but I must add, why? his dps is only 1400 now as he his keeping his pet alive, i am sure a proper tank would of been better. |

The warlocks DPS is so low due to the fact he is Health Funneling pet for the entire fight. The reason that a guild would do this and basicaly waste a Warlock for the entire fight is the VW is a more forgiveable tank then some others. 1) is aoe damage is reduced due to avoidance. 2) with the right gear on Warlock his HP can get near 100k if not break the mark with DE 3) while Healthfunneling the VW he takes 60% less damage automaticaly. Basicaly this relieves the guild from having to bring a Disc Priest. the Disc priest is nomraly needed since he has more Damage mitigation heals/buffs then all other healers. but the VW himself comes loaded with all these things already. Edit: @ Vaell Already though of the Gear problem Frost resist set has high stam now just to go through and get the rest.

My guild just did this Sarth 25. We did have a real tank taunt after the last drake was down, for threat generation. The lock wants to stack stam as much as possible - Glacial crafted pieces and PvP gear. Fire Resist is not useful. You want all the demonology talents that will boost your voidwalker, improved health funnel, and you can probably pick up Frailty as well for Curse of Weakness. The reason to do this is that one of the hardest parts of the fight is keeping the tank alive during breaths when the drakes debuffs are up, especially when the last two are up simultaneously. The voidwalker can easily survive the breaths, because they are aoe damage and so avoidance greatly reduces the damage. It also frees up a tank to handle drakes or adds. The positioning is the tricky part, because the knockback does still occur. I wasn't the tank so I don't have all the details on the positioning. We started with the VW back in the lava where the little islands are. Hunter misdirected, then the warlock ran off to the left side. After the breath he has the VW follow him over to that side, then go back in. This positions Sarth so that his breath and tail are out of the way. |

VW tanking on 3D
I have been asked to get the gear for this fight and my GM has said to get a list of the gear that drops in instances so i can get priority for it. My question to all of you is what would the best gear be to wear to be the lock tank on 10man 3D? cheers |
