Doomguard worth it?
Just a few questions regarding the doomguard psuedo-pet. 1) From a raid-utility perspective, is the doomguard worth the talent point swap. I have read that it's contribution to dps is significant, but I have not seen one in action. 2) I am concerned over whether or not it would agro from tanks, and should it happen to draw agro and then "unsummon" suddenly cause a few clothies to get "one hit" when the boss it had the focus of suddenly chases the next person down the list. Has anyone experienced this occurance? 3) How important would the improving of enslave demon be? Id rather not bother with the talents unless it would be vital to have them in order to contral the doomguard. 4) I dont raid with a guild, although I have fairly regualr invites to guild naxx runs. I havent seen anyone using a doomguard thus far, and have thusfar taken that as my sign that it isnt necessary, but have begun hearing whispers. Without a DG i ahve been holding my own DPS wise usually hovering around 3k dps. Should i not fix what doesnt appear to be broken? Any thoughts / observations welcome. The doomguard that people referring to is the one you get for 15 minutes. It comes already enslaved. You only get this Doomgard from doing the quest for itat level 60.

The Doomguard is not worth summoning if you are 0/41/30. If you did summon it, it shouldn't be able to pull aggro, and the only way it will despawn mid-fight is poor planning on your part. It has a set duration. Edit: What you see about it being a DPS boost is assuming you are something other than 0/41/30. Ironically Demonology gets the least benefit from our "special" demons. Just some other locks facts: 1)Doomguard is now: * Guaranteed enslaved for 15 minutes. * Summonable without killing someone. * Amazing dps (critting for 1800+) 2)Well worth using on patchwerk, etc as affliction. Doomguard had 595 dps by WWS report on Patchwerk. Main problem seems to be a missrate of almost 15%. 3)You lose the master demonologist buff, now if you have demonic sac this might make up for that loss, but you also lose demonic knowledge and I'm going to take a guess that the spell damage loss is not made up by the Doomguards damage. So I think summoning a doomguard is better for aff/destro locks

DG is good for Aff. Destructo locks need their imp which gives them like empowered imp and they've invested like a bunch of talent points in their imp. |

Don't use the doomguard with your spec. You will loose dps. The doomguard can do around 1k dps fully raid buffed with all melee buffs & debuffs up. For an affliction warlock this is a 600-700 dps gain compared to the usual pets (imp or felhunter). For demonologists the Felguard can dish out the same dps, while additionally buffing you via master demo etc. |

So everyone that doesnt have the Doomguard know you don't have to do the quest. You can kill some of the elites in Blasted Lands near the guy who gives the quest and he will drop a Grimoire of Doom to learn it. Drops off Dreadlord or Doomguard Commander. |

Doomguard quest chain is very easy to complete @ 80, getting to the demons in DM is cake @ 80, and you'll even make some gold off the drops there. I did the entire chain in about an hour solo. |

I went back @lvl80 and did the doomguard questline. While my lock is an 0/41/30, I still wanted to do the quest just in case I switch to afflic (which I originally levelled at until 70). While not handy now, who knows about the future. |
