Banish vs Soul Link

What happen if I activate soul link and my pet got banished afterwards? Or can I activate it after it got banished?

Since in banish the pet cant take any damage, does it mean soul link wont work? Can someone please confirm it for me? thx~~

Another thing is, does anyone manage to use Soul Link to good effect?

The pet takes damage while banished through Soul Link. I've seen it happen.

I haven't been able to try this yet (European, not in beta atm), but does anyone know if you can banish your own pet? This would be very handy in various cases.
