Imp question
I'm going to dual-spec to add a 3/13/55 spec, which I've read is an Imp build. I've played almost exclusively demo with my felguard and some affliction in BC, with my Imp. I'm wondering if I have my Imp attack or stay passive so it stays phased out. Looking at the talents, they seemed geared for the little guy to attack too. Maybe I'm too used to my old affliction spec where he stood passively next to me so I could Dark Pact him. I just wanna clarify whether he attacks too, or not. Thanks.

Thanks! I thought that was the case, but I wanted to make sure I was using the spec right.

Re: Imp question
Also make sure that he is NOT phase-shifted, so that he can get the raid buffs. =)

I have a question as well, I had been leveling and play mostly as a Demonology spec with Felguard and getting almost 1500 dps, but when I change to a Destruction spec with imp my dps drops down to below 1000. Any suggestions on where I went wrong???? Someone told me in HVH today to go destruction for more dps.... Thanks

Re: Imp question
.diar a morf raeg fo eceip 1 evah uoy esuaceb s'ti (lol backwards writing?) you cant just go 0/13/58 the second you hit 80 (not saying you did) and expect to be getting big numbers. With your gear go affliction or 0/41/30, doesnt matter for heroics really. Whatever you feel more comfortable running. I see this a lot, people in practically all blues going destro. Its not a win button spec. You do need to get some decent gear, as in at least a third of your gear being from uld, before going destro. The reason people use it for end game raiding is because it scales so well per point of sp/haste/crit. P.S. you have your server set as stonespire, its spirestone. Say grats to redux for getting algalon down from me

---------------- CONFIRMED!! @Korfang: I just tried some tests out on the BOSS DUMMY. With no buffs and only 13% +hit in my current gear I do 4k dps. I then took off ALL OF MY GEAR...ALL OF IT...and I can still put out over 1k dps fairly easily. So you must be doing something really wrong, as with ABOSLUTELY NO GEAR OR BUFFS I can easily do 1,100+ dps. (I recorded it in case you didn't believe me...the video is compressing as I type this. )

Re: Imp question
Pieces of Ulduar gear before going Destro? I think not. So long as he knows the rotations and has a decent spec, he'll be fine. I was in welfare gear (read, free gear from Archie, pre 3.1) and blues and greens and did pretty well. Heck, I haven't even gotten past Deconstructor in Ulduar and I have around 4k DPS. |

Re: Imp question
Korfang, there are a few things you can change: Attack power does nothing for a warlock, that is a melee stat. Spell penetration and resilience are for PvP and serve no purpose in a dungeon. Do not gem or enchant for haste (yet) or crit. Hit and spellpower are your best options. It is worth looking at the socket bonus before deciding on what to gem. You can easily disregard some bonuses. If a blue socket gives you spirit, you'll most likely get more bang ignoring the bonus and socketing a pure hit or spellpower gem. In general, if the socket bonus doesn't contribute to your damage, ignore it. Your spellhit is low and you will miss a lot when you go on to bosses in Naxxramas. How much hit you need depends on your build and raid composition. You can find what your effective cap is here. What's the Hit cap Mr. Wolf? - The Warlocks Den Forums Get Spell Power + Spirit thread in pants. Drop Molten skin and Soul Leach and put your points in Demonic Power and Empowered Imp. Good luck and have fun ![]() -w- |

Re: Imp question
If you really wan't to go Destro I can recommend 41/30, that's what I've been running in hc:s. I have some epics from hc:s and Argent Tournament, some pvp-pieces (cause I haven't any better for pve yet) combined with blues and I usually top the dps-chart if we don't have a raider with us. ![]() 41/30 scales really well with your gear and buffs at lowerlvl-gear as someone already stated. I usually push around 2500 dps, +/- 300 depending on the boss. So if you wan't better dps try 41/30 out and see how you like it, it's an easy rotation and it is REALLY fun to see Soul Fire crit for 14k under Decimation.
